A8N32-SLI-DL noticeable speed difference using 2 or 4 ram modules

I all,

I've installed 2 x 1Gb Corsair CMX1024-3200C2 with latency 2-3-3-6

The A8N32-SLI-DL (latest bios) + X2 4400+ run absolutely fine, but the recognized latency are 3-3-3-8.

To add one more Gb of memory, I've added 2 x 512Mb Corsair CMX512-3200XLPT with latency 2-2-2-5

The system run fine except for a slight but noticeable speed slowdown, about 10%.

After removed the faster 2 x 512Mb memory, system speed are now Ok.

Question is: The slowdown was due to the fully populated ram slots that force the 2t timing or could be related to the different ram latency or size ?

What's if I fit four identical CMX1024-3200C2 modules and in case I slightly overclock the Pc to compensate the memory controller slowdown ? Any how-to recipe will be gratly appreciated!

Greetings to all of you

The 3200's are programmed with JEDEC values (3-3-3-8).

They would need to be set manually to 2-3-3-6.

It's not recommended to mix different RAM.

Besides the obvious TWINX-2048 set, if you want to run 4 sticks, all the 3200C2's would have to be the same Version#.

The XL's all use the same IC's.
