H115i trouble removing Intel bracket

I'm pretty much at my wit's end trying to remove the Intel bracket from the pump. I've tried twisting the thing clockwise and counter-clockwise and it won't budge in either direction. I've done my best to push down on the bracket evenly, but I have small hands and it is nearly impossible. Why in the world did it come preinstalled with a bracket if you need completely different ones depending on your setup? I'm pretty much stuck with a dead computer and a very stained hand.
