Ammorth Posted March 29, 2017 Share Posted March 29, 2017 I would recommend it. The cable pinning could change between generations, so better be safe than sorry. I have two generations of PSUs and was using an old PSU to power an arduino project via molex for testing. Had a miss-match of cables/generations/modular-plugs and ended up getting different voltages than expected on the molex connector. Luckily I tested with a voltmeter before plugging in the arduino.
