Corsair link (4.6.0.86) finds fans i dont have

Hello!

I have a Asus Strix Z270H with a i7 7700 and i have 2 chassifans connected to the motherboard on ChassiFan_1 and ChassiFan_2.

Except of that i have the h115i and asus strix 1070. nothing else!

After the update today i can finaly see cpu temps, but i also got 3 new fans identified. MB Fan#1, MB Fan#2 and MB Fan#3. They are all moving at different speeds (rpm) and they are active (rpm changes actively).

Question

I find this very weird as i ONLY have 2 chassi-fans connected, so my question to you guys is: What is MB Fan #2 ? (and ofc MB Fan#1 and MB Fan#3)

From my setup and the speeds i see in the corsairlink comapired to the motherboards data the MB Fan#1 and MB Fan#3 should be = ChassiFan_1 and ChassiFan_2. But then i have MB Fan#2 being the oddball. I cant get this together. I have no other fans running at those RPMs according to my motherboard. The only thing i can think of is the PSU but that would be very weird as it aint connected like that to report rpm? According to SIV64 it might be the CPUFAN2 - but then what is h115i FAN indicator? ...... weird....

Thanks in advance!

Edit:

Yes

H115I FAN = CPUFAN1

MB FAN #1 = CHASSI_FAN 1

MB FAN #2 = h115i Pumpspeed divided by 2 (see red-ray reply below)

MB FAN #3 = CHASSI_FAN 2

This is when i check the SIV64 data. Where CPUFAN shows the exact same speeds and changes as Corsair links MB FAN#2

Same goes for the Chassi_1 and Chassi_2, they are MB Fan#1 and MB Fan#3

CPU Fan is half the H115i pump speed. Change the pump speed to confirm this.

It's also easier for me is you post the CL4 [Home] tab.

Use http://forum.corsair.com/forums/profile.php?do=extra to add your PC specs to your profile, don't post them.

  • Again I further feel CL4 should use meaningful names rather than the Temp #1 form it currently uses, same for the fan names.

Thanks! I will update my profile (but as this was my first entry i havent got to it yeat, sorry!).

Anyhow:

You are correct, the MB FAN#2 is the PUMP_SPEED divided by 2: (which is reported why exactly? as there is exact pumpspeed allready with its own icon).

And here is my homescreen:

Thanks for your imput. I was very confused for awhile but now when its clearer i can finally rename them correctly!

Not from within the BIOS. OK you can tell the pump speed once you can run monitoring software, but when there is a pump issue when initially building the system knowing the pump speed helps is lot. It also means you don't get BIOS CPU_FAN failed errors.

It being half the pump speed for Asetek coolers is silly, but liveable with. AFAIK Corsair fail to specify this, I deduced it.

CoolIT coolers are sensible and report the full pump speed.

I am wondering if I can improve the ASUS Strix Z270H temperature names SIV uses. If there a screen in the BIOS that reports temperatures and if so what does it report. Please post the BIOS screen shot.

Thanks again.

here is a complete setup of screens from the BIOS:

Unfortunately its not much detailed and its Qfan details.

So its just CPUFAN CHASSIFAN1 CHASSIFAN2 that is detected and AIOPUMP/CPU OPT FAN that is not detected.

And ive notice that the corsairlink has another temperature indicator called "MB Temp #2" (like air temperature in chassi) that goes up along with CPU Package temperature but with 1-3 degrees offset - so im not sure if its a straight up "duplicate" of the CPU Package #1.

I have no idea what all the CL4 Temp #1, etc. are. Corsair should use sensible default names :(:.

Thank you for the BIOS screen shots, but as you noted they don't really help. The Nuvoton NCT6793D sensor chip reports 8 possible temperatures and what these are used for varys from motherboard to motherboard. In SIV I try to use meaningful names, but this is not always possible.

See http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?p=853900 for how to attach a file/screen image to a post.
