Missing Fans in Corsair Link (Windows 7 64b)

System:

Windows 7 64b

Corsair Link 4.2

H80I GT

Asus ROG Maximus Hero VIII

Issue #1

Corsair Link is showing only 1 fan for the h80i. Thankfully, it's the fan I am able to adjust. The weird thing is, I can clearly see both fans spinning just fine, I just have no idea how fast the other one is going, which is pretty important. This was working fine two nights ago. I had unplugged my PC, then plugged it back in (not tampering with any of the internals), and suddenly the 2nd Radiator Fan was no longer detected.

Issue #2

I just installed some fans this morning, to see if maybe that would give the link a little boost like 'hey, stop being a jerk, and show this guys fans.', but no. My side panel Corsair SP120 is spinning wonderfully, but not showing up in Corsair Link, SpeedFan, or HWMonitor.

The front panel, I just replaced 2 really slow 120MM fans with a 200mm Phanteks PH-F200SP. Previously, both of these fans, connected to the CHA_FAN headers displayed just fine in Corsair Link, however, the 200MM fan is not being detected, but again, is spinning just fine. I believe this one is being displayed in SpeedFan as "SysFan", however, if it is, it's running 400 RPM slower than it should be. I'm not certain that this is that fan, but I don't have any other fans, so I'm not sure what else it could be.

So, in summary, Corsair Link was detecting both radiator fans, now it only detects 1 radiator fan. It was detecting both of my 120MM fans in the front, but after swapping in the 200mm, it won't pick that one up. The new 120MM Corsair fan, isn't being detected at all. All fans seem to be operable, the LEDs seem to be working, but I really need the utility to do it's thing, so I can start monitoring my fans...

Steps I have taken to try and resolve:

Unplug/Replug the USB

Reboot

Reinstall Corsair Link

Reinstall Corsair link with USB unplugged, then back in

quadruple checked all connections are secure to the motherboard & cpu

swapped USB header from one to another

Total Fans that should be displayed in Unit

2 120mm (stock with H80i GT)

1 120mm (side panel)

1 200mm (front panel)

Total Fans Seen in Link:

1 120mm (stock with H80i GT)

Total Fans Seen in Speed Fan

1 120mm (stock with H80i GT)

I have no idea what "SysFan" is, I do not think the Phanteks spin this slow, the packaging says 850+250

I have no idea what Aux or Aux1 fans are, nor why they spin at 0 RPM.

Every fan in the case is currently spinning. (sorry for redundancy, just want to make sure I have as much detail as possible)

Post the CL4 [Home] page. There is a bug in CL4 and none of the motherboard fans are on [Configure] :(:

  1. You have an H80iGT not an H80i and the H80iGT like all Asetek coolers is silly and only reports one fan speed, see http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?p=796027. As for it working fine two nights ago and reporting both fan speeds no way.
  2. I suspect the new fans may be reported via the EC (Embedded Controller). CL and none of the utilities you mentioned have EC support. My SIV utility should report these on the [status] panel, post it. if 7 CHA Fan 1B is not reported then you need the SIV the 5.07 Beta, if so do Menu->File->Download->SIV Beta to get it. There have been several requests for CL to have EC support added, one is http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?p=805421.

Don't post your PC Specs, add them to your profile.

It definitely was. From my other thread:

Here you can see my front two 120mm (these are missing, and replaced with a single Phanteks 200mm fan, which is missing from Link as well)

The H80iGT Cooler Fan & ASUSTek Motherboard CPU Fan (this is the fan thats now missing).

Now, I don't have a screen shot of it missing in the previous version of Corsair Link, but the fans definitely did go missing before installing the new version. In fact, I installed the new version because I was hoping that it would just fix the issue.

Using the Beta version, I am able to see everything, I think.

2 CPU Fan 1 would be the missing fan on Corsair Link

4 System 3 would be my side panel 120mm?

5 System 4 would be my front panel 200mm

H80iGT Pump & Fan are pretty clear.

Is there a way to adjust the fan speed through this tool, or is this for diagnostic only?

**EDIT**

oh, no.. using the beta I cannot see the other fan. Using 5.06 I can.

I feel you need to read what I said below. Further now I know you have a GTX 980 Ti that fan is also missing.

See http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?p=821198 for a Using SIV to Control Corsair Link Hardware and GPU Fans guide.

You are seeing the same fan twice, once via the CPU_FAN motherboard header and once via the H80iGT. If you look at the H80iGT cable you will see that pin 3 is missing from one of the headers. This is the fan speed signal. The easy way to see the other fan speed would be to connect pin 3 to one of the motherboard fan headers, CPU_OPT would be my choice. Thinking about this I feel Corsair should include the cable to do this as part of the package . I found it easy enough to find the one below and insert the yellow cable into the pin-3 hole, but I suspect some would find it tricky.

SIV 5.06 does not have the code to detect CL4 :sigh!:, so it was reporting the H80iGT when it should not have been . Look at the 5.07 [Link Devices] panel when CL4 is active which will say similar to as below.

Thank you for the SIV 5.07 Beta screen shot. Did you notice SIV is reporting a few more temperatures (read via the EC) than CL4 and fan names that match the motherboard header names? BTW I have just released SIV 5.07.

Again add your PC Specs to your profile, that way I can easily check them without needing to search for them.
