tyrannosaurus
Asus Strix Gaming 270i i7-7700K Corsair Vengeance LPX CMK16GX4M2B3000C15 I've changed my memory set from Vengeance LPX 2400MHz to Vengeance LPX 3000MHz which worked out of the box @3000MHz. I wonder what are the correct timings @2400MHz to insert manually. Temporarily I just opted 2400 MHz in UEFI and left other settings to auto. Are these settings correct or do I have to change something manually. There's no 1200 MHz section under SPD. http://up.picr.de/28982201qd.jpg http://up.picr.de/28983234ly.jpg [sPD Details] <- SIV64X - System Information Viewer V5.18 SIV64X - SPD Details for 2 DIMMs took 0.000 seconds on \\- Windows 10 x64 Professional V10.00 Build 14393 RS1 SMBus Total for 2 DIMMs 16GB Banks Manufacturer Part Number Serial # [_]Speed [Y]Suppress Same 0_50 DDR4 SDRAM UDIMM 8GB 16 8Gb Corsair CMK16GX4M2B3000C15 0000-0000 Clock tCL tRCD tRP tRAS tRC |G|CRC Volts PC4-3000P (1500MHz) JEDEC 1 666MHz 9 9 10 22 31 |N|MTS 1.20 2 740MHz 10 10 11 25 35 Ranks 1 3 814MHz 11 11 12 27 38 4 888MHz 12 12 13 30 42 5 962MHz 13 13 14 32 45 6 1037MHz 14 14 15 35 49 7 1066MHz 15 15 15 36 50 8 1066MHz 16 15 15 36 50 XMP 2.0 1 900MHz 9 11 11 21 32 1.35 2 1000MHz 10 12 12 24 35 3 1100MHz 11 13 13 26 39 4 1200MHz 12 14 14 28 42 5 1300MHz 13 15 15 31 46 6 1400MHz 14 16 16 33 49 7 1499MHz 15 17 17 35 52 8 1499MHz 16 17 17 35 52 9 1499MHz 17 17 17 35 52 10 1499MHz 18 17 17 35 52 11 1499MHz 19 17 17 35 52 12 1499MHz 20 17 17 35 52 13 1499MHz 25 17 17 35 52 0_52 DDR4 SDRAM UDIMM 8GB 16 8Gb ... ... ... ... red-ray
It depends on the SPD, post the SPD tab. Ideally edit it into your initial post so the two are next to each other. Given this is DDR4 you should update your PC specs from Asus P9X79 Deluxe or specify what this system is.

red-ray
CPUZ only displays the fastest XMP settings so the timings for a 1200 MHz clock are not reported. My SIV utility should report them if the DIMM reports them. After starting SIV press the [ SPD ] button.
tyrannosaurus
SIV is already installed. The values differ from CPU-Z SPD as you wrote. Should I insert these Values in UEFI? c-attack
The place to start is 12-14-14-28 for the primary timings. You should be able to use Timing 1 (T1) for this. Leave all other memory timings on Auto. You will also need to go back to Tweaker column and set the DRAM voltage to 1.20v. That should be fine for these settings. It may also be desirable to set a specific System Agent Voltage offset, but that is CPU specific and I don't know the most common values for your set-up. There are multiple possible values that will work and the voltage provides another way to make them viable, but this is a safe starting point. tyrannosaurus
Updated DDR settings. Tried Command Rate T1 which resulted in a STOP event under Windows 10. Changed DDR Voltage to 1.20 which is shown up as 1.2012. Strangely the CPU is running @4500MHz Turbo mode most of the time now, though power options @Balanced. Is this caused by the memory timings? http://up.picr.de/29047561fw.png
red-ray
The 1.2012 is probably down to the sensor granularity, which utility reported it? I have seen the odd system run at full speed when balanced is selected, but never figured out why. How busy were the CPUs? Post the SIV initial screen. You may also wish to check Menu->Hardware->CPU Detail->CPU Speed Ratios which will report the % usage for all the ratios.
tyrannosaurus
@red-ray I'm sorry for the delay. Had to re-install Windows 10. Probably the Turbo Mode is connected to the memory timings. Now that I've switched back to default @2133, Intel Speedstep is working again and the CPU is idling @800MHz. Will post the screen when changing @2400 again. Saved a profile in UEFI. Update: Now I've changed to the 2400MHz Profile and Speedstep seems still to work @Balanced. Just changed from 'High Perfomance' to 'Balanced' and immediately the frequency went down to 800 MHz. :sunglasse So now I don't know if Commad Rate T1 was the culprit which crashed Windows 10 or Windows 10 itself. Windows 7 is still working stable since 5 years in my old system. The current 9.2% CPU Utilisation seems quite high, which process is causing it? See http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?p=853900 for how to attach a file/screen image to a post. tyrannosaurus
Here we are. Hmm, there were only Firefox and CPU Core running. Taskmanager says.
red-ray
Hmm, there were only Firefox and CPU Core running. Taskmanager says. I guess the 9.5% must have been a glitch and 1.3% is closer to what I would expect. When idle I see about 0.7% @ 1.20 GHz with SIV using about 0.12%. I don't think W10 uses any more than W7 as on my W10 test system the load is even lower.
tyrannosaurus
Had a hard time to find the cause why some programs and GTA V out of the blue were constantly freezing after seconds to minutes. Reinstalled Win 10. Upgraded to Creators Edition which was not a good idea - even more restrictions. At last I've found the culprit: The memory timings. As soon as I've went back to default 2133MHz the problem was solved. I think the timings for 2400MHZ 12-14-14-28 and 1.2v for unknown reason are too tight for my system. red-ray
I suspect for 2400MHZ 12-14-14-28 you need 1.35V as that is what the SPD says. I feel W10 in general is a PITA and only install Enterprise as that is gives me the most control, though I do like that with W10 RS2 there is finally SetThreadDescription()
c-attack
I agree you should bump up the voltage to 1.35v for now. It might work with less, but it sounds like you have enough tinkering for a little while. You can run 1.35v all day and night and it should not present any temperature issues and all XMP presets above 2666 use that voltage anyway. Random freezes are often memory related. tyrannosaurus
Voltage @1.35 is the solution. Thank you so much for that advice. Thought about low voltage but was too much busy with installing Win 10 Pro Creators. Nevertheless I could play for more than 30 minutes high speed chasing the interstates with no crash. There are some guys at reddit complaining they cannot play games at all since upgrading to Creators Edition. Could have find the trick earlier. I mean the screen says clearly 1.35v @XMP 2.0. http://up.picr.de/28983234ly.jpg
