Jagdpanther
Memory Recommendation: I want to upgrade my Asus P6X58D Premium motherboard from 12GB to 24GB. I currently have six Corsair XMS series modules running in XMP mode without issue. After using the Corsair 'memory finder' I have narrowed my choice down to either the Dominator CMP24GX3M6A1600C9 that runs at 1.65V or the Vengeance CMZ24GX3M6A1600C9 that runs at 1.5V. I am interested in stability (The only 'over-clocking' on the system is running the memory in XMP mode). The system runs 24-hrs a day. (Usually Linux but ocassionally Win7 for a game.) Any suggestions on which memory to pick? (If both are equally stable, I am leaning towards the Vengence memory becasue at 1.5 V it should run cooler.) peanutz94
For the X58 chipset stick with the Dominators most definitely. The Vengeance series are compatible but they were designed and tested for the newer Sandy bridge CPU's. In alot of cases you would have to run the Vengeance modules at 1.65v anyway. I have the 24 gig Doms myself(see Specs) and have never had an issue running all 24 gigs . I absolutly love them! Either one will run about the same as far as temp goes. Jagdpanther
If I stick with Dominators another option would be the CMP24GX3M6A1333C9. It is rated to run at 1.5V ... I wonder what kind of performance hit I'll take with the slower (1333) speed compared tothe (1600).
peanutz94
While there is a performance difference between the two, you probably wouldn't notice it without a benchmark
