blkeagle
I am building a new computer with DX79si motherboard + 3960x. The 4x4gb 1866Mhz quad channel kit CMP16GX3M4X1866C9 looks pretty good to me, I would like to install two sets of these ram to achieve 32GB total memory at 1866Mhz. But I have heard people complaining about this motherboard would have problem booting with 8 sticks running more than 1600Mhz. Has anyone had any issue with this mobo+ram combinations ? Wired
It's never recommended to mix memory kits. There's just no way to know if they're compatible with each other without testing. Best to buy ONE kit that meets your needs.
blkeagle
I can't find anywhere that offers the Dominator double quad channel 8 x 4GB rams, do you ?
Wired
There's no such thing as double quad channel. 4 x 8 GB: http://www.corsair.com/us/memory/intel-memory-upgrades/quad-channel-intel-memory-upgrade-kits.html http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=100007611%2050001459%20600083963&IsNodeId=1&name=32GB%20%284%20x%208GB%29 8 x 4 GB: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233263

Am I out of luck on this one ?

If I use two sets of neither one, i may run into my original problems, no ? my goal is to populate all 8 DIMM slots while having quad channel and more than 1600MHz, be it 64G or 32G. Wired
You said you wanted two kits of 16 GB = 32 GB. That's why I suggested one 32 GB kit. Why do you want to specifically populate all 8 dimm slots?

Why do you want to specifically populate all 8 dimm slots? oh, i mentioned 32gb because it is affordable. Populating all 8 slots makes it look cool, and also kills my urge to 'buy more rams'...
