xMoneo
My computer has shut down three time in the past two days under gaming load. It happened twice while running Battlefield 3, and once in Grand Theft Auto 4. I've changed outlets, powerbars, and I've dusted out the psu and made sure it is getting clean air. According to multiple powersupply calculators and I should have more than enough power to run my system. I bought the HX750 in November of 2011 so it's only 80+ silver. Is my powersupply faulty? peanutz94
What are the voltages being reported in the BIOS? And are you getting any BSODstop error codes? Or is it just shutting off like someone throwing a switch?
xMoneo
I'll check the voltages right away, but it just completely dies like someone flicked the power switch.
peanutz94
That doesn't really sound so much like the PSU. But possibly an issue with the MB. But lets see what voltages are first and see if you can keep an eye on them when under load to see if any of them drop below 5% which is normal ATX spec nd that would be across all voltages. +/-5% variance is what your allowed. xMoneo
My 3.3V is low. Excuse the poor photo quality, my bios print screen wasn't picking up my usb stick.
xMoneo
While playing Battlefield 3 for 5 minutes the +3.3v was under 2.948v and went as low as 2.800v
peanutz94
You might try re-seating all your PSU cables that attach to the MB first, and if you get the same results afterwards, then I would have the PSU replaced. Are you by any chance using any extension cables for the 24 pin and 8 pin EPS cables are you?
xMoneo
I am using NZXT extensions for the 24 pin and 8 pin EPS. I'll remove the extensions and re-seat all the cables.
peanutz94
Check the connections between your extensions too and look for any burnt or discolored wires/connectors.
xMoneo
I removed the extensions and connected everything without them and all my voltages are perfect now! I put the extensions back on after checking them and the voltages are still perfect, even under full system load. Thank you very much!
peanutz94
Absolutly! Glad that worked for you!
