Sabrehawk
I cant get this board to report the rams as DDR 400 by default and i cannot get it to work in dual channel no matter what i try it will remain single channel mode. I have placed the modules in one Orange and one Yellow slot. Note that im not trying to overclock im simply trying to run my system at its advertised speeds. To get it to report DDR400 i have to manually adjust the Ram Divider (it is ? im quite new to A64) to 166. I also cannot run 1T with this rams i have to use 2T. (Wasnt 1T faster ?) I cant run 200 Ram Divider either. Wont post, repeating beeps and must clear cmos after that. (What happened to the standard of 4x power offs and bios will revert to failsafe? not on this one, holding insert key doesnt help either) Right now these buggers run in its slowest mode without any tweaks, as lameass CL3 no prime errors in benchmark. I ran these rams on my NF2 Epox 8rda+ with 11x200 mhz in dual channel and they had no prime errors in benchmark. Somewhere in the manual theres some diffuse blah about double sided memory sticks that cannot run dual channel if more than 512 mb ? I have no clue if i interpret this correctly though since its kinda vague what they write there and you couldnt read about this limitation anywhere on the net or store or at dfis product description , FAQ and stuff. Is there anything i can do about this ?!?!? Besides buying new ram AGAIN (getting these refunded at the shop will be very difficult cause they will blame the mobo maker and vice versa)    :[pouts: Details of system are below... updated: I also have instable system after playing games for a while the system will hardlock, black screen some sounds repeating , have to shut off hard , after that constant reboot loop only got back to work with last known good configuration ! Im so damn annoyed by the damn industry bringing out incompatible **** all the time that i could run against a concrete wall screaming sometimes. CPU-Z version 1.31. The manual is available on their website. They are double sided. Update your BIOS to see if it'll let you fix this limitation. Otherwise, confirm the limitation @ http://www.dfi-street.com
Sabrehawk
I have so far resolved the dual channel issue by placing the modules both in orange slots. According to the manual this is the absolute OPPOSITE way. According to page 5 System Memory Section quote : DUAL CHANNEL: DIMMS of the same memory configuration are on DIFFERENT channels (which to me makes sense if memory channel A and memory Channel B are utilized for double bandwith and is called DUAL CHANNEL mode or TWIN Banking. But thats not how the bios reports the ram placement.) Whereas Channel A slots are nearer to the cpu socket and Channel B is the other 2. BUT SINGLE Channel is descipted : DIMMS are on the same channel (according to manual picture thats how i have placed them NOW and they are NOW in dual channel mode) Besides that the manual is overall lousy and does not explain most bios params this is a ridicolous misprint. So far im further investigating my stability problems. to be continued __________________ Well i know the manual cause i have the original manual here. The BIOS is the latest version (0705) available and since the board is the latest revision AB0 it has been shipped with it. Anyone know a custom bios that will fix issues with corsair ram (DFI doesnt seem to like them a lot ) id be happy to try out.
Wired
you'd have to go to the link supplied earlier to get custom BIOSes.
Sabrehawk
i changed to 824 bios which is not on dfi site but on a external link. It let me chose 1T now and i can boot into windows with it but i cannot run any 3d game with it . It will instantly hang the machine. It will run torture prime95 for 3 hours with no error though on 1T. Damn weird. To get it stable on 2T in games i had to do significant tweaking to voltage and ram settings at stock cpu speed. After that was achieved i also applied a slight overclock of 200 Mhz now as well. Feel free to comment out on these settings for optimizations. Im still absolutely unhappy with system performance in BF2 :(
Sabrehawk
ack also it seems that the NF3 Socket 939 board is NOT on the list of compatiblity although all other Lanparty boards are !?!? WTF Would it be possible for corsair to swap my modules to something that is confirmed to be compatible with that board ? If it cost me a fee well ok for me...i doubt that the shop will retake them after 4 months i used them in epox. And i rather have them swapped by experts who know what they send me then selling them on ebay (for a big loss probably) and getting a other brand which will cost me a fortune for 2x 1024 again. Im already nagging at my desk for all the money ive spent to get such disappointing results..not corsair to blame of course.:(: As far as i interpret wireds pn to me some time ago i prolly got infineon chips on my ram (ack!) Wired
Your board was probably overlooked. Doubt they're not comaptible.
Sabrehawk
Well a board with a chipset that has been out for over 1.5 years (i reckon) that does not detect my modules as DDR400 with a bios of THIS year can hardly have been correctly tested by your company. Wired
I don't work for Corsair, didn't sleep at a Holiday Inn last night either! :)
