vengeance IC choice

Recommended Posts

Hi All!

I own Corsair memory for 2 years now but this will be my 1st question here :)

I have 2 pairs of Vengeance 1866mhz 2x4GB memory.

1st is classic "tall heat spreaders" set - rev. 3.19(micron I think)

2nd is LP set 4.29(samsung)

I've got to make a fast choice between them and I would like to ask which one would(probably) be better OC ?

From what I tested 3.19 work fine @1866 9-10-9-24 1T 1.5V or @2133 10-11-10 27 1T 1.57V both with 110ns(trfc)

The 4.29 set work @ 1866 9-10-9-27 2T but only with 300ns(trfc) and its one sided kit

I wont have time to test it further thats why I would like to know if some You had any experience micron vs samsung or 2-sided vs 1-sided memory?

I dont care about the looks I only want some decent OC and stability. Also im concerned about trfc difference... With same timings but @110 vs 300 ns 110 give me about 200pts more in 3d mark 11...

I know every set is diferent but maybe someone could give me a hint? ;)

The dual sided kit will have the performance advantage at the same settings, but i'd probably still go with the Samsung kit. They should be able to do DDR3-2400 with a minor voltage bump at reasonable timings. You would have to test that yourself and compare the performance to your maxed out Micron based set, of course.
