earlstreetblue
Can someone tell me what the main differences are between the GT and the GS versions of the Force Series SSD? Am I right to assume that the GS series is the newer version? TIA
Wired
Example:
180 GB model | Max Sequential Read (ATTO) | Max Sequential Write (ATTO) | Max Random 4k Write (IOMeter 08) (4k aligned) | NAND Force 3 | 550 | 520 | 85K IOPS | Asynchronous NAND Force GT | 555 | 525 | 85K IOPS | Synchronous NAND Force GS | 555 | 525 | 90K IOPS | Toggle NAND
helmutcheese
I can see some of the other models the GS of different capacity have far lower IOPS. What is going to be the new Flagship/speed king SSD, the GS or so far not listed GTX?
Wired
http://www.corsair.com/blog/introducing-the-force-series-gs-ssds/ Connoisseurs of SSDs know current NAND flash for SSDs comes in 3 varieties — fast, faster, and fastest. These can also be called asynchronous, synchronous, and toggle NAND respectively.
bee144
http://www.corsair.com/blog/introducing-the-force-series-gs-ssds/ GTX is also toggle NAND...
Wired
GTX is also toggle NAND...True, but the Neutron Series and Neutron Series GTX uses the LAMD controller, so it can't be compared apples to apples (not to mention that it's not out yet): http://www.corsair.com/neutron http://www.corsair.com/us/blog/neutron-gtx-ssd http://www.corsair.com/en/blog/introducing-the-force-series-gs-ssds/ The Force Series GS has better ATTO writes, but the Neutron Series GTX has a slightly better score in PCMark (whether that's noticeable in daily use or even statistically relevant is another story since it's < 5%). The Force Series GS transferred the 21.9 GB file in 1 min 41s. The Neutron Series GTX transferred the 21.9 GB file in 1 min 10s.
Belial_69699
I think I am finally going to get my first SSD and I am pretty sure its going to be the new GS. Hopefully my first SSD experience turns out to be a good one.

robert3892
The Corsair quality and speed are there. Enjoy!
Belial_69699
I picked out this one: Corsair Force Series GS 180 GB. The only thing I am dreading is having to do a clean install then having to run all those updates lol. But at least I will get rid of a lot of programs that I no longer use. I intend on keeping my WD Black 750gig HD for vids, movies and music as a slave drive and put Windows and WoW ect on the SSD. :)
bobmitch
I just replaced a Samsung 830 series with the GS 240 GB....all I can say...WOW! This drive smokes everything near it. Well worth the investment...
