red-ray Posted February 28, 2016 Share Posted February 28, 2016 It's quite hard to find out what the maximum fan currents are so I created a table. For completeness I also included the latest firmware versions and which speed is reported to the CPU_FAN header.
Supplier|Model Name|Latest Firmware|CPU Fan Header|4-pin|3-pin|Zero RPM|12 Volt Total|Fan Controllers|Recommended|Power|Notes TBA|CLCP or CC Pro|V0.2.136|NA|Yes|Yes|Yes|<= 4.5 amps|6 x 1.0 amps|all <= 0.8 amps|SATA|2 x LED 4.5 amps @ 5 volts CoolIT|CLCC or CL Mini|V1.1.06|NA|Yes|Yes|No|<= 4.0 amps|6 x 1.0 amps|all <= 0.8 amps|SATA|1 x LED 2.0 amps @ 12 volts |CLCN Cooling Node|V1.2.11|NA|Yes|No|No|<= 4.0 amps|5 x 1.0 amps|all <= 0.8 amps|Molex |H110i|V2.0.00|Pump Speed|Yes|No|No|<= 2.0 amps| 2 x 1.0 amps|all <= 0.8 amps|SATA |H110iGT|V1.1.08|Pump Speed|Yes|No|No|<= 2.0 amps| 2 x 1.0 amps|all <= 0.8 amps|SATA |H100i|V1.1.03|Pump Speed|Yes|No|No|<= 2.0 amps| 4 x 1.0 amps|all <= 0.8 amps|SATA |H100|V1.2.08|Pump Speed|Yes|No|No|<= 2.0 amps| 4 x 1.0 amps|all <= 0.8 amps|Molex |H80i|V1.1.03|Pump Speed|Yes|No|No|<= 2.0 amps| 4 x 1.0 amps|all <= 0.8 amps|SATA |H80|V1.2.08|Pump Speed|Yes|No|No|<= 2.0 amps| 2 x 1.0 amps|all <= 0.8 amps|Molex Asetek|H115i|V2.8.0.0|Pump Speed ÷ 2|Yes|No|No|<= 2.0 amps|1 x 2.0 amps|use <= 1.6 amps|SATA |H110iGTX|V2.4.0.0|A Fan Speed|Yes|No|No|<= 2.0 amps|1 x 2.0 amps|use <= 1.6 amps|SATA |H100iV2|V2.8.0.0|Pump Speed ÷ 2|Yes|No|No|<= 1.0 amps|1 x 1.0 amps|use <= 0.8 amps|CPU_FAN |H100iGTX|V2.3.0.0|A Fan Speed|Yes|No|No|<= 1.0 amps|1 x 1.0 amps|use <= 0.8 amps|CPU_FAN |H80iV2|V2.8.0.0|Pump Speed ÷ 2|Yes|No|No|<= 1.0 amps|1 x 1.0 amps|use <= 0.8 amps|CPU_FAN |H80iGT|V2.3.0.0|A Fan Speed|Yes|No|No|<= 1.0 amps|1 x 1.0 amps|use <= 0.8 amps|CPU_FAN
Notes: Asetek coolers have a single fan controller which both fans use and only one fan speed is reported. For all CPU_FAN powered coolers you need to disable CPU_FAN header control in the BIOS so that the cooler gets the constant +12 volts that it needs. Typically set the mode to PWM and full speed, 100% or similar. The actual setting varies from motherboard to motherboard. The H115i + H110iGTX manuals are incorrect as both coolers are SATA powered rather than being powered form the motherboard CPU_FAN header. Corsair, please will you correct any errors and make this sticky? Of our modern coolers, the H80i GT and H100i GTX support 1A total on the fan headers, while the H110i GT and GTX support 2A. Despite the 1.0A rating for the that older H100i, you don't want to go above 0.8A or you will pay a price. The Max current is no more than 4 Amps total and no more than 2 Amps per fan header. It is 4 Amps total on the fan controller for HXXXi series coolers and no more than 2 amps per header. And yes at 12 Volts that is 48 Watts. In addition, please keep in mind the spec of the fan controller which is 2 amps max per header and 4 amps MAX Total. So if the fans you have use take more then 1.0 amp and you have four fans connected that would be too much load on the controller. Commander Mini is *very* different from the original Commander and Cooling Nodes. The original Cooling Node only featured proper PWM control; to control 3-pin fans, it would strobe the fan header instead of actually adjusting the voltage. This was bad for the node to say the least. The Commander Mini, on the other hand, has full hardware voltage control integrated into the fan headers. I use a Commander Mini in my home system, it's a major upgrade on the original Commander and Cooling Nodes. My config is: Commander Mini w/ 12 SP LED fans RGB LED lighting kit Dual Dominator Airflow Platinum fans being driven by a cooling node and a lighting node respectivelyAX860i. Neither one officially supports controlling 3-pin fans. This is referring to the H110iGT (CoolIT) vs H110iGTX (Asetek) I just grabbed an H115i and can confirm that it is SATA powered. Interesting find, and thanks for pointing that out. I'll give the team a headsup. Edit: Team has been notified and is aware. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

red-ray Posted October 5, 2016 Author Share Posted October 5, 2016 I expect the H115i + H100iV2 + H80iV2 report the Pump Speed ÷ 2 to the CPU_FAN header. Please let me know if you think this is not the situation or if you know where Corsair specify what this is. AFAIK Corsair do not specify this which I feel is rather poor. red-ray Posted June 16, 2017 Author Share Posted June 16, 2017 I have added the CLCP information and still feel Corsair should make this thread sticky or post a similar sticky thread. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
