HOLY SMOKES!!! I can't believe it 🤣
I've been concerned about this particular fan power/RGB setup more than anything for my entire build. Been reading about it awhile now watched videos. A lot of the videos don't show STEP by STEP and they assume you have a decent deal of knowledge (which I don't LOL) plus I think me drawing the diagram and having someone as nice as you to comment and put up with me has been the MOST helpful thing yet. Thank you u/DevBiker!!!
So - my diagram and text description was completely good to go, yeah!
Was I even correct about the 6 daisy chained RGB LED strips from Corsair and how they would require NO SATA connection and no USB mobo header connection - JUST the 3 pin Lighting Channel to the CoPro?

I think from the sounds of things it sounds as if it would be easier to just the RGB Fan LED Hub that you're referring to (especially since my buddy is giving me the whole box). Also, this would allow me to control the 6 QL fan RGB from the CoPro.
AIO Pump :
- connected to the CoCore
- connected to fan port on mobo
CoCore :
- power and RGB function for all 3 ML radiator fans
- connected to SATA Power
- connected to USB header on mobo
CoPro :
- power for all 6 QL case fans
- connected to SATA Power
- connected to USB header on mobo
RGB Fan LED Hub :
- RGB function for all 6 QL case fans
- connected to SATA Power
- connected to 1 ( out of 2 on the Co Pro ) 3 pin Lighting Channel
Advantages of doing this setup :
- only requires 2 USB mobo headers
- control RGB for 6 QL case fans from the CoPro
- also, since I'm only using 1 out of the 2 Lighting Channels on the CoPro I could theoritaclly use UP TO 6 daisy chained RGB LED Strips from Corsair that would be plugged into the 2nd Lighting Channel on the CoPro and these would also be controlled by the CoPro (they would require no other connections to SATA Power or USB mobo header - JUST the connection to Lighting Channel on CoPro)

So my diagram would need a USB header connection to the Lighting Node Core added to it and it wouldn't need connected to RGB port on the CoPro, however it MAY or MAY NOT need connected to USB on the CoPro.
I would prefer not to have to buy the RGB Fan LED Hub (but will do so if needed) reason being I will already have the Commander Core, the Lighting Node Core that comes with my packs of fans (I will actually have 2 of them) and I'll have the Commander Pro my buddy offered to give me (he said he is giving me the entire package so I would get the connectors that you're talking about with it.
With the setup that I had drawn out I think from what I'm understanding is :
- The Lighting Node Core would need a USB Header to mobo.
- You mentioned the Lighting Node Core "does not connect to the CoPro - except, perhaps, to use it's USB header" so does this mean that the Lighting Node Core wouldn't need the USB header to the mobo if it was connected to USB on CoPro?
- Since you say doesn't, except perhaps, does that mean it doesn't matter if it's connected to the CoPro?
- If I were to set it up the way I had described I think that you're saying I would need 3 USB headers on mobo - CoCore, CoPro, and Lighting Node Core, correct?
- Since you mention if I set it up that way I would have to control the RGB for the 6 QL fans from the Lighting Node Core I wouldn't mind that if I can still control it with the iCUE software. I'm not understanding why it would matter to control it from CoPro or Lighting Node Core.

Thank you sir! I think the drawing really helped me. It makes no sense how reading or hearing something is only somewhat helpful and then to be able to physically see something makes it much better. It's a pain LOL.
I think the last question that I have is considering my original question about the Commander Core (because of the AIO) and also using the Commander Pro.
I'm only asking because a buddy of mine has an extra Commander Pro he just let me know this morning. He said he would let me have it. If he did that then I wouldn't need to buy a PWM fan hub.
Essentially with this setup I would have ( a lot of similarity to the latest diagram) :
AIO Pump
- Connected to the Commander Core
- Connected to mobo fan port
Commander Core
- Power and RGB for all 3 ML fans used on the radiator
- Connected to SATA PSU
- Connected to USB header on mobo
Commander Pro
- Power for all 6 QL fans
- Connected to SATA PSU
- Connected to USB header on mobo
Lighting Node Core
- RGB for all 6 QL fans
- Connected to SATA PSU
- Connected to a RGB port on the Commander Pro
- Connected to USB Internal on the Commander Pro
With this setup is my diagram and text explanation correct? The only thing I'm debating is does the Lighting Node Core also need a USB Header? So this setup would need 3 - Commander Core, Commander Pro, and Lighting Node Core?
If that's correct then I will update my diagram for future use and if it helps anyone else.

Alrighty - were all of the connections that I drew in my diagram correct then?
The new additions that I made were:
- the PWM being connected to SATA PSU
- Lighting Node Core being connected to SATA PSU
- Lighting Node Core being connected to the Commander Core
- PWM and Lighting Node Core both being connected to the mobo
What I have in summary to try and put my diagram in a text format in case the lines are hard to follow :
AIO Pump

I'm going to get the suggested NZXT mobo USB header splitter because I will need more.
Do the components such as Commander Core, PWM fan hub, and Lighting Node Core come with the USB cord that is responsible for plugging into a USB header on the mobo?

Okay - so what I'm thinking is that the AIO pump will connect directly to the Commander Core and to the mobo. That is all it does.
The 3 ML120 fans for the radiator will connect to the Commander Core for both power and lighting purposes. Commander Core will then plug into a SATA connection and plug into a USB header on mobo.
My other 6 QL140 fans could be connected to a pwm fan hab - something similar to this :
To use that pwm fan hub I would also to need to purchase a Lighting Node Pro - because the items that come with my 2 packs of QL140s won't work?
The pwm fan hub DOES NOT plug into the Commander Core at all; however, it does get SATA power and it does plug into a USB header on the mobo?
I'm confused as to how the Lighting Node pro can display 6 QL140 rgb if it only has the two ports on it? I see on description it says it can support 12 rgb?!?!? with 2 ports?!?!?
But, the Lighting Node Pro would then get SATA power and a USB header mobo AND it would NOT connect to the pwm fan hub?
So I would have 3 USB headers - the Commander Core - pwm fan hub - Lighting Node Pro?
I could also grab the :
for the purpose of having enough USB headers.
Do the cords that need plugged into the USB headers for the Commander Core, pwm fan hub, Lighting Node Pro all come with each of those items? I know that the SATA cables I would need to plug into them come with the PSU - I'm also going to purchase one of these because I think it will look nice and I've double checked that it's compatible with my EVGA power supply :

You seem to have gotten wrapped up in the RGB - you don't need the RGB Hub.
Now ... your MLs are on the Commander Core for RGB and PWM. Next, the QL multipacks come with the Lighting Node Core. You can use that to control the RGB on the QL's - all six of them on one hub. That connects via USB. PWM for the QLs goes to the PWM Hub. The PWM Hub is connected to (and controlled by) the Commander Core and one of its PWM headers.
You don't need a Fan Hub unless you want to control the RGB for the QLs from a Commander Pro. And you really don't need a Commander Pro, at least not at this time.

I've got it down that the MLs are the commander core for RGB and for power. The AIO pump also plugs into the commander core and the pump plugs into the mobo (forgot to draw the pump to mobo connection on my diagram). Then, the commander core gets a SATA connection and a mobo header, that correct?
I'm going to buy the part that you're referring to for the fan hub.
I will have 2 Lighting Node Cores from my fan purchases and sounds like I only need 1.
So the QLs will plug into the part that you're suggesting I get for power and they will plug into Lighting Node Core for RGB.
Here is where I'm super confused.
In my diagram I drew that the PWM connects to the commander core in one of the fan port spots on it (which is good because I will only be using 3 from the MLs). Does the PWM then get a SATA connection AND a mobo connection? Also, does it plug into the Lighting Node Core?
The Lighting Node Core will also then plug into all 6 of my QL fan (just like I mentioned in the above paragraph - does the node core plug into the PWM or the Commander Core?) Also, does the Lighting Node Core also get a SATA connection AND a mobo connection?
I know that all the SATA connections I will need come with my PSU - I actually ordered an aftermarket set of cables for asthetics and I ensured they will be compatible with my EVGA PSU however do all the USB cables that plug devices into the USB headers come with the respected devices (for example usb header cable with the commander core) :

So at this point I guess please let me know if the PARTIAL diagram that I've preapred is correct and I'm still concerned about the Lighting Node core going the Commander Core or PWM or it going nowhere, does the PWM get a SATA and USB header, and does the Lighting Node Core get a SATA and a USB header?

Finally - if you are going to use the hub (don't just get if you don't need it), then the hub will be connected to the motherboard and the Commander Core and Lighting Node Core will be connected to the hub.
This is probably all better done, honestly, in the forum. There's no problem with questions around here (mostly) and doing it in the forum helps others learn too.

I'm new to the forum and also new to building rigs. Did one quite some time ago but my buddy walked me through it all and I learned but still am very green and this will be my first completely on my own.
I'm going to be using the H150i Elite AIO and I'm also going to be running 9 fans.
I know that the Commander Core must be utilized with the AIO and that it comes with it. I'm also getting a Commander Pro to power the other 6 fans because I don't want splitters and adding additional voltage to the Commander Core.
I've got concerns about setting it all up.
I think I have a good or decent starting handle on it but I would GREATLY appreciate your help.
The AIO comes with 3 ML120 fans that will be ran with the Commander Core. Essentially the AIO plugs into the Commander Core and it ALSO plugs into a fan port on the motherboard (ASUS X570-E) - that is the only two plugins for the pump and no SATA or anything, correct? Or a SATA that goes to PSU also?
The 3 ML120 fans for the radiator will plug into the Commander Core for both power and RGB. The Commander Core will then plug into a SATA connection for PSU and also a USB header on the mobo, correct? No other connections for the Commander Core I believe.
The Commander Pro will be utilized for my 6 QL140 fans (want to keep fan types separate and also don't want too many on one controller).
For the Commander Pro all 6 fans will plug into it for power. Then each fan will also plug into the Lighting Node Controller that comes with my QL140 fans, right? The Lighting Node Controller does NOT get a SATA connection or a USB header connection? However, it does plug into one of the internal USB header spots on the Commander Pro I believe. The Commander Pro will then plug into a SATA connection as well as a USB header on the mobo, right? No other connections for the Commander Pro?
So between the Commander Core and the Commander Pro I would only need 2 USB headers on my mobo? I've been reading the manual of mobo and looking at diagrams and I think I only have 2 USB headers on the mobo. If I need more I know I would need a splitter. I don't think I will need more though because the USB ports on the front of my case look like they plug into different sockets on my mobo similar to the way the headphones jack and audio has its own.

As title says it was my first time. Popped my cherry. It was glorious LOL.
Pretty happy with how she turned out. Want to work on my cable management when I go to do my next build. I will for sure never buy prebuilt again.
Let me know if you guys have any tips for cable management or general comments/suggestions on the build.
The Corsair Fans and H150i are looking good I think.
