  1. I've noticed the mouse seems to die on me if I'm using the side buttons more often (gaming), whereas it'll keep working if I'm just doing regular desktop stuff. Anyone else notice that?

Also the mouse died on me twice during a game causing my team to fail :( I have to play with a regular mouse now. Very sad.

When I was having issues, it would happen during a game, just bumping around the web, and once I came back after having been away for a few hours and it had seized up the same way.

  2. I have a new Scimitar (Delivered Friday) using it with a K65 and it is barely usable even as a standard mouse for desktop activities, click's not actioned and random hesitation and lock up's moving cursor around the workspace. I have attempted to set lighting functions but find that is loses settings after a few minutes of use.

I'm not using any third party software or have anything mapped to the buttons.

Are people RMA'ing their mice or is it thought to be a firmware problem?

Definitely upgrade the firmware, but it sounds like you have a defective mouse. I never had a mouse fail right out of the box like that.

  3. Are any of the other people having trouble using the Alienware AlienFX software with their Scimitars? I've been doing some extensive troubleshooting with multiple Scimitars (I received a replacement through Amazon) and it's starting to look like my problem was a compatibility issue between the STRAFE RGB and/or Scimitar lighting schemes and the Alienware software I had installed on my computer that had the "Enable Third Party AlienFX Access" option selected.

I've disabled the third party access and haven't had trouble using the Scimitar CUE linked to my STRAFE RGB in over two days. (Before this I had to unplug and re-insert my Scimitar between three and four times a day.)

After disabling third party access to the Alienware software, I had no problems for a little over 48 hours. To test my theory, I re-enabled the 3rd party access and experienced the same failure as I had previously after about 2 hours. Based on this, I believe my problem was an incompatibility between the CUE software and/or Scimitar mouse using the lighting sync with other 3rd party software that controls lighting schemes in my system.

  5. Around 4 times a day my Scimitar will glitch out and go from a smooth cursor movement to very laggy and choppy movement. When this happens all the buttons on the mouse stop working even though I can still move the cursor. I can still mouseover and it will highlight a link I just can't do anything with it. When this happens all the lights on the mouse stop changing color they just freeze basically. The only fix I have found is to unplug and replug the mouse in.

I am having the same issues with a new Scimitar (using a new STRAFE RGB keyboard and the newest version of CUE). Has anybody solved this issue yet?
