The embedded controller (EC) returned data when none was requested.

When running SIV I get this error,(The embedded controller (EC) returned data when none was requested). if I run ADIA64, HWMON or Link then this error is not present. Any thoughts.

There is no information to give me a clue as to what the cause may be and I can't even guess why you get this when others don't. A good start would be to address:

1. Where is this reported?
   
2. How often is this reported?
   
3. Which version of SIV are you using?
   
4. Which version of Windows 10 are you using? Specify the build number.
   
5. When did this start happening? Given http://forum.corsair.com/forums/showthread.php?p=857470 I guess you have been using SIV since 10-Jun-2016 without seeing this effect.
   
6. Have you expunged ASUS AI Suite from the system?
   
7. What EC sensor information does SIV report? Post the Initial + [status] + Menu->Hardware->H/W Detail->I/O Embedded panels.
   
8. What version of HWMON did you use and what EC sensors does it report?
   
9. What version of AIDA64 did you use and what EC sensors does it report?
   
10. Did you run HWMON and AIDA64 before SIV and only see the message when you then ran SIV?
