Hi!

Please help on this one!!

I`m unable to do any OC on this set (my pc`s specs). Even in the memory. When it was running with a pentium E2160 the memory was 1066 without problems, but now I can`t OC the processor or the memory (memory now at 800) When I try to rise the DDR or QDR the computer crash at POST or loading Windows Vista...

What can it be? voltage?

Running well at stocks but crashing when try OC.. can it be the power suply?

Thank you!

You were running with a 200MHz (800 QDR) with the E2160. Now you are running with a 266 (1066 QDR) Processor.

Download CPU-z from
.

Download Memtest86+ Version 2.10 from--->

and extract the ISO image. Burn the ISO image to an CD-ROM disk.

Perform a hard reset to clear any BIOS stack corruption issues.

  1. Shut the system down
  2. Remove the power cord
  3. Remove the CMOS Battery
  4. Set the CMOS_CLR Jumper to On
  5. Press the power button for 10 seconds
  6. Let sit for 10 minutes
  7. Set the CMOS_CLR Jumper to Off
  8. Insert the CMOS Battery
  9. Insert the Power Cord
  10. Restart the system
  11. Enter the BIOS
  12. Load Default Settings
  13. Save Default Settings

Set to these values:

Advanced

JumperFree Configuration
AI Tuning = Manual
Overclock Options = Disabled

System Clocks
NB PCI-e Frequency (MHz) = 100

Voltage Control
Vcore Voltage = Auto
Memory Voltage = 2.1v
NB Core Voltage = 1.32v

FSB & Memory Config
FSB - Memory Clock Mode = Unlinked
FSB - Memory Ratio = 1:1
FSB (QDR) = 266

Chipset

Memory Timing Setting
tCL = 5
tRCD = 5
tRP = 5
tRAS = 15
Command Per Clock = 2 Clocks
tRRD = Auto
tRC = Auto
tWR = Auto
tWTR = Auto
tREF = Auto
tRD = Auto
tRFC = Auto
Async Latency = Auto

USB Configuration
USB Controllers = Enabled
USB Legacy Support = Disabled (Disable when you memtest. Enable afterwards if you have usb keyboard)
USB 2.0 Controller = Enabled

Run Memtest for two full passes. When assured of stable DRAM, then enter Windows and Run CPU-z and post screenshots of CPU-z's CPU, Memory and SPD tabs.

This is not an overclock. This is to test your system.

I did what you suggested but it still does not work...

First I follow the steps to do the CMOS reset, ok

Then I set the configuration you told me to whit some necessary modifications:

Here:

FSB & Memory Config

FSB - Memory Clock Mode = Unlinked

FSB - Memory Ratio = 1:1

FSB (QDR) = 266

I had to change to linked mode in order to user the ratio 1:1 and the BIOS do not let me put qdr=266, it says the minimum possible value is 533, than I set this field to 1066

Memtested and ok but when rebooted I realized that the memory was at 800MHz. Checked the configs and it was ok. Resolved to try a mod…

Set mode to unlinked, set QDR=1333, enabled de SLI-Ready Memory to Expert and set DDR=1066 (here the minimum allowed is 533 too)

This time it boots with 2.66GHz but the memory still boots at 800MHz…

Back in BIOS settings, everything was just like I set.

Rebooted and let windows starts… under windows were no changes, processor still running at 2.13 and memory at 800

I Really do not understand what`s going on…

Some guy told me this board is not good for quads due it have just 3 phases... Can it be?

Ignore the boot fail message

I certainly would not pick it for a Quad setup. You are setting correctly but the values are not sticking. I can tell that you know what you are doing so I do not think that this is user error. A BIOS Flash to the newest version and if this does not work I would look to RMA of the motherboard.

My BIOS ver. is the last.. in fact I`m thinking do flash a previous ver. just to try...

Last doubts:

My PSU is a 450w with 70% efficiency and I have a 9800gtx+ (minimum of 450w PSU to work) can it be energy problem? Is this possible?

As I told you I have a E2160 and with this processor I able to set QDR=1333 (resulting in 3.0GHz Rock Solid) and DDR=1066@5-4-3-7 2T. Do you think it`s a better option?

Yes, I think you will do better with that motherboard and the E2160. I could see it being an power issue if you had boot and then freezes in the OS, etc, but not this issue. It sure seems motherboard related. To test, do you have a vanilla video card that you can install, a pci one, etc?
