I get the same stuttering and am unable to use either left or right click using the rainbow, have changed to color shift to see what happens. I am using a Scimitar along with a K70 keyboard with both CUE and the firmware updated to the newest choices. I plan on trying all choices of color patterns to see which are affected but so far all it is just the rainbow setting.
