Default 12GB TR3X6G1600C8D with P6T Deluxe v2 freeze/BSOD

Hi All,

I currently have 12GB of TR3X6G1600C8D RAM 2 sets of (3x2GB) with a Asus P6T Deluxe v2 board and an I7 920. I am occasionally getting random BSODs or freezes (computer just locks up) or random reboots. The can occur during browsing the web or when my comp is idle. I have never experienced it during a gaming session. This is on Windows 7 64 bit also.

I tested each module one at a time with memtest. I reset the CMOS, enabled XMP and ran 1 module at a time. I let it run 4 pass on all 6 modules and there were no errors. However I read that you can't run 12GB at 1600 mhz or on the xmp profile. I found this out the hard way when windows froze on startup. That is fine for me now. I am at the point where I just want things to run.

I read somewhere else on the forums that to get it to run at 1333mhz, you would set it to 1333 mhz, 1.65 V (i set it to 1.64 because it won't let me do 1.65 only 1.66). I then also changed the QPI to 1.4. I did this yesterday and last night when I was sleeping my computer had restarted. It wasn't a BSOD because I didn't get the minidump record.

I'm not the best at these things and I only have a basic understanding. Any help from would be greatly appreciated. At this point a stable machine is all I am looking for.

Thanks

In order to run 6 up you may need to loosen the timings slightly to 9-9-9-24 or drop the memory frequency to 1333MHz. This is more of a limit on the memory controller then the memory.

I'll try that.

If lower the timings and the frequency what should I put the DRAM Bus Voltage (1.64?) and the QPI to?

Would setting the timing to Auto be okay also?

Thanks for your help

These modules are rated at 1.65 Volts for the memory and I would suggest 1.35-1.65 Volts on the QPI Voltage.

I just wanted to give an update.

I ended up setting Voltage at 1.64 (because it won't let me set it to 1.65 it would make it 1.66 which was in the "danger zone"). I set the QPI to 1.4 and left the timings to auto. I changed the frequency to 1333.

So far over the weekend running my comp 24/7 and having no problems. I'm not sure if i should make any more changes because if it is like this with no problems i am more than happy for now.

I will provide more updates =)

Thanks for the help
