Dominator Platinum RGB - 2 versions, what differences?

Hey guys.

I was hoping to get a set of 16 GB of memory (2x 8 GB) from Dominator Platinum RGB series. I am talking about 3200 MHz version.

However, in the online shop I am planning to buy them, I found 2 versions (as well as on corsair website):

CMT16GX4M2Z3200C16

and

CMT16GX4M2C3200C16

There is a difference in 1 letter (Z/C), and the first set is around 15 euro more expensive.

I have checked both products on corsair website, in deed both sets are found, in deed one of them is a little more expensive, but the websites are exactly alike and there is no mentioning about what the difference is.

What i find at a store here in Sweden, the Z version is for AMD Ryzen and the C version is for Intel.

But i found something more, the Z version has this specs:

Well, this does not make much difference for me as I am going to use XMP profile anyway, and they both guarantee 3200 MHz with 16-18-18-36 timings?

Also, for Ryzen 5 2600 with B450 the ram compatibility is not such a big problem as for the 1s generation of Ryzens.

So, in fact, there is no point in paying a little more premium, as they would behave just alike?

Or maybe some other forum user could shed some more light about the difference between those 2 sets?

Check your motherboard manufacturer's QVL for RAM. If either of those serials show up on the list, then it's been tested and verified to work. From Krokarn's post it seems that the Z version would then be the one you'd look for. Basically, its all down to which RAM has been verified to work with your motherboard and CPU. If you're running a Ryzen 2600, you may not have any problems even if the RAM you buy is not on the QVL as long as it is similar to another kit that is.

I just built a R5 3600 rig with a set of 32GB Dominator Platinum RGB 3000, and it wasn't listed on the QVL for my motherboard, but the 3200MHz version was. It works just fine. Depending on where you buy from you should have plenty of time to test the RAM and if it doesn't work, send it back for something else.
