Corsair Nightsword onboard button remapping

Hello! Just purchased a Corsair Nightsword to replace my old G502, feels great so far, very solid mouse, but one large deal breaker problem has arisen.

 

I can remap to onboard hardware every button except the profile up and down buttons, and I really need those buttons, or at least one to be remapped if this mouse will successfully replace my old G502!

 

I can't understand why the iCUE software lets me select and input the remapping I require, and save, only for it not to work. I can only rebind the profile buttons in software mode, which is no use to me at all.

 

Any help/hacks/work arounds please? Seems strange to have such a great mouse, then lock out two buttons for no apparent reason...

Go to Windows Settings -> Apps and click on Corsair iCUE "modify". Run the repair installation. Users pop up now and then with this issue, but it does work and I just remapped my Nightsword profile up/down to A/B to test. Are you using a complex macro or series?

Hiya, did you remap to onboard hardware and check without the iCUE software running? :cool:

 

Because I can only remap the profile up/down in software mode (ACTIONS), not onboard memory (HARDWARE ACTIONS)

 

Without the extra button, the mouse will be of no use to me, I'll need to get another Logitech G502 and I'll have wasted my money :(:

You can't rebind non-universally recognized buttons in hardware mode. The OS has no idea what that button is. That applies to sniper/option and profile up/down. Those will do their native function specific to the mouse. Input the OS recognizes like left/right click, side buttons, and middle mouse/wheel can be reprogrammed for Hardware Mode without the software running.

 

Why is it you can't run the software?

The sniper button remaps perfectly with onboard memory....

 

I run Xim Apex with my Switch to play Zelda Breath of the Wild with mouse and Nav controller.

 

Seems crazy if the answer is that they can't be remapped, even when the software shows that you are doing just that? Makes the mouse useless to me and money wasted....

Perhaps someone else can add their experience, but my Nightsword will not map any action to sniper or Profile, up/down, DPI up/down, or sniper in hardware mode and it retains it's native function. This is different than my Iron Claw Wireless that will. However, as I am trying multiple different mice for this, I am encountering errors with hardware saving in 3.34. There may be an underlying issue. However, I suspect they have not let you map the Profile up/down buttons to prevent a user from locking themselves out of the other 2 profiles while in hardware mode. Seems like very bad software, and yet the mouse hardware itself feels excellent, better in hand than my old G502. I don't need multiple onboard profiles, I'd rather have the two extra buttons to use :p:

 

If people get locked out of their profiles, at least they could easily revert the button mapping, it's simple enough to do. And yet those users that want to remap the profile buttons are simply locked out without a choice? That's very short-sighted of Corsair, and in fact would make my (and no doubt others) purchase in vain :(:

 

There must be a work around surely? Or a firmware request option? Do Corsair read and respond here?

After deleting the HW profiles and reinstalling the software, I am able to remap the Sniper button in HW mode on the Nightsword. I am still unable to get Profile up/down to a A-Z remap in HW mode. It retains the native function.

 

Corsair personnel sometimes respond in the forums, but officially support is the Ticket Support Link at the top of the page.

I'll send a support ticket, see what happens....

 

If Corsair are worried people won't be able to switch profiles (seems an odd concern over having two non remappable buttons instead), why not allow for one of the buttons to be remapped, and the other to simply scroll through the profiles? There are only three on board slots after all....

Getting support tickets responses now, but still nothing allows on board memory mode to remap profile buttons to a keystroke, even though the apps shows that I am selecting the right options. It doesn't work, two useless keys for the using on board memory without need of profile switching....

Corsair were great and swapped the mouse, however it was a pointless exercise because it's not possible to hardware remap the two profile buttons to anything else with the on board memory :(:

 

Anyone who needs multiple buttons, remappable using on board memory would be better off with the Logitech G502. As that mouse allows full button remapping and is not limited and restricted like Corsairs products....

I had the same problem and searched around for an answer but found out that these 2 buttons (profile up/down) are not programmable for this specific mouse only. Maybe a SW update can patch the problem later. Regardless, for the time being, I had to work around this because I wanted them to change DPI instead so I cleared all the profiles and made 2 profiles (main and high DPI), programmed them accordingly and they function as desired. Now I don't think this would fix your issue but maybe it gives you some ideas and hopefully, the money you spent on this doesn't go to waste completely. :D:
