Akecheta
Using windows XP to see what firmware is on Force Series GT 240GB SSD to see if I need to update to 1.3.3, which the version I was not able to find, but under Disk Management I saw I had 223.57 GB of unallocated space. Is there info written on SSD since I don’t see the full 240GB?
Toasted
You won't see the full 240GB in Windows. Unallocated space means there isn't a partition set on the SSD. You can use Disk Management to create a Partition.
Akecheta
Just wanted to make sure that there was no data on the SSD before installing Windows 7. Would I see the full 240GB in Windows 7? Just to be on the safe side I secured erased the SSD anyhow.
madnisman
No, you will just see 223,57 GB. This is due to different definitions of Byte: HDD manufacturer: 1 GB = 10^9 = 1.000.000.000 Bytes Windows: 1 GiB = 1024 x 1024 x 1024 = 2^30 = 1.073.741.824 Bytes 223,57 GiB * 2^30 Bytes * 10^-9 = 240 GB
Akecheta
Well I am glad then I got this 240GB then instead of a 120GB or a 80GB for my OS. Not sure how much space would be available on SSD after all the Windows 7 updates over the past couple years since realease if I went smaller.
