Utking
Hi guys! My PC turns off when i'm gaming. It's like a sudden powerdown followed by a restart. This happens under heavy load as well as light load (when gaming). Fallout 4 crashed during the intro video. Now my pc is some years old, but should run the games i play just fine. Any ideas? Temperatures are fine, CPU at 50 degree while gaming, motherboard temps ok. GPU's are at 70c. And i can't figure this one out :S Specs are: p6tdeluxe 1366. 6x 2gb ram OCZ 1600mhz plat edition. Intel Xeon x5690. Cryorig R1 CPU cooler. xfx 7950 x2 in crossfire. 180gb samsung 151 Evo something. Corsair HX1050. (4 years old) Lian li A71F case, with 3 140 fans in front, and three at the back. Windows 10 Pro, with all drivers up to date. Any help appreciated! Oh, my CPU is slightly overclocked, running at 4.1 ghz, but even stresstesting at 4.5 ghz for 12 hours runs fine. but my PC instantly turns off when stress testing GPU's. And a reboot to BIOS tells me 3,3V is at 2.78 (red) 12V at 13,59. And 5v at 5.57 (also red) Trust these values, and are my PSU toasted or?
Corsair Employee jonnyguru Posted November 22, 2015 Corsair Employee Share Posted November 22, 2015 And a reboot to BIOS tells me 3,3V is at 2.78 (red) 12V at 13,59. And 5v at 5.57 (also red) Trust these values, and are my PSU toasted or? Typically, I ignore these numbers because they're read at the motherboard and not the PSU... BUT.. Sometimes, it's a good indication to check all your connections, make sure they're secure and that there's no corrosion, etc. in an older PC. Also, run MemTest. More often than not, that can be the root cause for reboots. In Windows, system settings, startup and recovery, make sure "automatically restart" is unchecked. There might be a blue screen hiding behind that reboot.
Utking
Still being puzzled by this restart bug. Memtest clears out OK, voltages are fine with a multimeter. GPU's are good. Now this only happens when i game for an hour or two, after the first reboot it happens after only 5-10 minutes :/
Utking
Does anyone know at what temperature this PSU turns off btw? Mine gets pretty hot when in use. even though it's only pulling 650w from the outlet.
