hi.

i have already 2gb of 8500c5d with 2.1voltages.

i just bought more 2gb but it came in its 2.2v version.

now the question... since i made the timmings setup manualy, can it cause any problems setting the voltage to 2.2?

thanks

ps: sorry my bad english

With 4 modules I would suggest setting the memory frequency at DDR667 or DDR800 and set the memory Voltage to 2.1 Volts and set the NB/MCH/SPP Voltage to +.05 Volts as well and test the system with http://www.memtest.org. In addition, with some MB's (Mostly ASUS) you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test.

I am sorry but I have no way of knowing as you did not list the make and model of MB but I would check in the user manual and or Advanced Chipset section of the BIOS might be listed in Frequency and Voltage control depending on the BIOS kernel.

thanks for the quick answer

my mobo is: Asus Striker Extreme

for now i`m using windows xp 32bits, but i`ll change to 64 bits or windows vista server 64 bits...

any advices for the right way to get my memos working on 1066? right voltages? ( because 2gb works with 2.1v and the other 2.2v)

thanks again

I have already answered that question please go back a few posts, and you can get the tested settings for the modules from the link in my signature and with ASUS MB's all BIOS settings will be in section 4 of the user manual.

ok, i`ll change that...

really thanks for alll your help and patient lol

one last question... i have the latest bios for my mobo and i still cant get them to work with 1066mhz... when i set my mobo`s sli memory ready feature to expert or max OC, my memos to unlinked mode and 1066, the windows starts, then it boots automatically...

any advice?

It's never advised nor is it supported to mix and match modules of different fabs and voltages. Some modules ICs will NOT work with other modules ICs and you can always tell if they are different ICs. Simply look at the version numbers on the modules. The Integer needs to be the same ie. 1.xxx (1.1/1.2...) for the fab to be the same. If the integer is different ie. 1.xxx vs 2.xxx... then you have differently fabbed modules which have different results and voltages.

1GB Modules of Version 1.xxx does NOT play nice with any other version. These are Micron D9 ICs. So you need to look at the version to see if they are indeed 1.xxx Microns. If they are, it is doubtful that you will find stability with a marriage of these two modules and any other differing fab modules.

hi...

i was outside my country, but now im back with the complete specs of my modules.

2 x 1gb 8500c5d 5-5-5-15 2t - Ver. 4.1; 2.1v

2 x 1gb 8500c5d 5-5-5-15 2t - Ver. 1.2; 2.2v ( the new ones )

I placed the 2 first in A1 and B1 slots and the other in A2 and B2.

For now, my setup timmings are 5-5-5-15 2t and the voltages 2.1

My pc is working well...

If i change the voltage to auto, my pc does not post with the 4 modules...

and with the 4 modules i CANT change the sli ready memory... NOT DETECTED

Just to confirm, now that we have the complete specs of my modules, what should I do to take the best of it?

Thanks again for all your help...

With 4 modules I would suggest setting the memory frequency at DDR667 or DDR800 and set the memory Voltage to 2.1 Volts and set the NB/MCH/SPP Voltage to +.2 Volts as well and test the system with http://www.memtest.org. In addition, with some MB's (Mostly ASUS) you have to disable legacy USB in the bios when running any memory test.

And with more than one set of modules SLI ready Memory should be disabled.

test results... (without memtest's test)

Memory Voltage = 2.1 volts

Timmings = 5-5-5-15 2T

System ok!

When I change the Memory Frequency to 800mhz, pc keeps rebooting...

Fail!

with 667mhz pc seems normal ( i'm using with 667 now) -> system ok!

ps: both frequencys with UNLINKED MODE and fsb 1066.7mhz

-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=--

Couldn't find the NB/MCH/SPP voltages

1.2 HT Voltage i can change between 1.2 and 1.95

NB Core Voltage i can change between 1.2 and 1.75

SB Core Voltage i can change between 1.5 and 1.85

at last change the values of CPU VTT, ddrII controller ref voltage, chanel A ref voltage, and chanel B reg voltage...

I could not find the MCH and the SPP voltages to change it

=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=

any ideas?

system unstable with 667 mhz ( without nb changes )

system unstable with ONLY timmings and volts changes ( without nb changes )

system unstable with ONLY volts changes ( without nb changes )

should I try to change the NB and the other configs after these results or my memos will not work together?

- 5-5-5-15 2T

- 2.1v memory voltage

- NB 1.45

- 667 mhz

????

That does not make any sense.

Please load setup defaults and then set these settings:

Memory Voltage to 2.0-2.1 Volts and set the NB Voltage to 1.45 Volts and then set the Memory frequency at DDR800 and use http://www.memtest.org to test the system.

modules seems work with 2.1v, 1.45 nd core, 5-5-5-15 2t and 667mhz

if i change to 800 my pc freezes during boot ( asus screen )

i'll try doing a few more tests to certify that my system is ok... i'll pass memtest NOW and post the results ok?

any more ideas?

thanks a lot for all your help...

well, final tests ( for now )

With same set of sticks in A1 and B1...

5-5-5-15 2T

2.1v

1.45 NB Core

CPUOC Expert

FSB 1066mhz

Ram frequency 800mhz

OK!!!

With same set of sticks in A2 and B2...

5-5-5-15 2T

2.1v

1.45 NB Core

CPUOC Expert

FSB 1066mhz

Ram frequency 1066mhz

OK!!!

-> with sticks in A1 and B1, if I change to 1066mhz memory frequency, the system does not post! simply freezes! =[

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-

With sticks v4.1/2.1v in A1 and B1 and sticks v2.1/2.2v in A2 and B2...

5-5-5-15 2T

2.1v

1.45 NB Core

CPUOC - NOT DETECTED

FSB 1066mhz

Ram frequency 667mhz

OK!!! (until now I didnt get any errors)

-> if I change to 800mhz or 1066mhz, the system does not post! Freezes too!

Any other ideas or this is the best I can get to use my 4 modules?

Hi... its me again...

after a lot of tests and patient, i think one of my modules is bad.

Since i did a few tests to get my 2 pair of modules work together ( with different voltages and versions ), i found whats wrong... =[

memtest displayed more than 2400 erros with 10 secs of tests =[

after test one module at time, i discovered that one stick is faulty. the same kit were replaced to me a few months ago =[

what can I do? a new rma?

thanks
