Question MM800 no writable default lighting effects?

Is there really no on-board flash memory module to write a default lighting effect?

On reboot I get the default rainbow effect. My proffered override only applies when I launch the Corsair Utility Engine software. Must I have this software always running?

Default

Unfortunately the MM800 does not have any onboard memory to store a user created static profile.

Yes, CUE needs to run in the background for lighting effects.
