joeycoco
Hi My current system is around 7 years old and the Corsair HX650 PSU (https://www.corsair.com/us/en/Categories/Products/Power-Supply-Units/hx-series-config/p/CP-9020030-NA) is from the original build. I was hoping to give it a bit of an upgrade before I start my new build later this year. My plan was to get a new GPU, one of the Nvidia 2060 or 70s and I am confused about the cables to use. The new GPU's require 8 pins, the PSU has 2 8 pin connectors but the cables that came with the PSU are 8 pin (PSU side) although 2 pins are not connected and at the GPU side they are 8 pin with 2 of the pins split off (see attached image) Could I connect a new GPU using this cable or would I need a new 8 pin to 8 pin (6+2) cable? Thanks in advance for any help Best Andy
Corsair Employee jonnyguru Posted June 10, 2020 Corsair Employee Share Posted June 10, 2020 I'm not sure where the confusion is. The PCIe and EPS12V ports on the PSU are 8-pin (though not all may be populated). The connectors for the graphics card are 6+2-pin (put them together to make 8). If you're worried about using both PCIe connectors on a single cable, just use two cables and only one connector each.
