pcarey
Is there an industry standard for the PCI-express pin-outs on modular (or semi-modular) power supplies, like the Corsair CX750M? I’d like to use the single PCI-Express 8 x 6 cable from an OCZ Mod-X-Stream Pro to power my nVidia GTX650 PCI-e video card, which only requires a single 6-pin PCI-e connection, rather than the monster multi-connector 8 x 6+2 PCI-e cable that came with my CX750M. Yellowbeard
NO! Do not use cables from other manufacturers. You could release the magic blue smoke from anything connected to it.
pcarey
Does Corsair offer a simple single PCI-e 8 x 6 cable that will fit the CX750M for those of us who only run one PCI-e video card? The PCI-e cable that came with the CX750M is massive overkill for a single PCI-e video card setup and a real pain to route. Outside of the main ATX power cable, it's easily the largest cable in my system. Ridiculous!
Yellowbeard
You can call or use the ticket system to inquire with customer service. If they cannot assist you then you could always buy the individually sleeved cables we sell. They will look great and also solve your routing/aesthetic issues. pcarey
Does the CX750M use a type 3 cable? If so, it looks like the CP-8920111 PCI-e power cable should work for me.
Yellowbeard
Click on the CXM series cables option on the side menu. That will filter it to show you cables compatible with your PSU
pcarey
According to the specs for the CP8920111 cable, it is for the AXi Series, CXM Series, HX Series , TXM Series & RM Series. Assuming the CX750M means a CXM Series, it should work.
Corsair Employee jonnyguru Posted November 11, 2014 Corsair Employee Share Posted November 11, 2014 CX-M, AXi, RM, TX and HXi all use the same PCIe cables.
pcarey
I want to thank Yellowbeard and jonnyguru for the quick replies and good advice. I found a brand new Corsair CP-8920111 cable online for $5.26 USD, shipped, and ordered it. Well worth that amount to get rid of that monster PCI-e cable that came with the CX750M! Thanks again.
