MP600 1 TB is very slow!

Recommended Posts

Don't accept that answer, it is NOT "OK" for an SSD to decrease to one-third of the advertised write-speed when it's filled about 50%. I bought this drive because of the superior performance it was supposed to offer.

In my case, I got an RMA approval from the original retailer where I bought it. They were unable (read: unwilling) to offer an advance replacement, but I came to an agreement where I ordered and paid for a Samsung 980 Pro first, and then they will credit me for the Corsair Force MP600. So basically I'm exchanging the Force MP600 for a Samsung 980 Pro. I don't trust Corsair with storage solutions after this so better stick with a tried-and-true manufacturer.

Thinking of switching to SanDisk or WD - they have almost the same or superior speeds! But at first I want either a statement or a solution from Corsair.

I'm another customer with problems, that's why i searched for problems and got this thread.

TESTS WITH V6 and V7

My M.2 is far away of what corsair announce.

What can i expect from Corsair? Will you send me a new unit and i send this one?

@Goucha, your speed is pretty much what you can expect. You don't have a PCIe 4.0 compatible motherboard so you will not be able to use the Force MP600 to its full potential.

U got luck ^^ u got better speeds then people who have PCI-e 4.0 ^^

Hi, found this thread as well as I'm having some issues with performance (against what I'd expect).

Motherboard: Aorus Pro Wifi X570-I

CPU: 3950x

Memory brand: Corsair

Memory model: Vengeance LPX

Memory capacity: 32GB

Memory speed: CL16

BIOS Version: F30

Windows Build and Version: Win 10 Pro 64 bit (2004)

MP600 capacity: 1TB

MP600 serial number (a photo of the sticker would be great):

MP600 Firmware Version: 11.3

Using drive as OS or storage? OS

Which M.2 slot: Main slot

Stock heatsink on MP600: No

If no, what are you using for a heatsink? Chipset fan

Edit: I’m stupid, completely forgot that I’d set PCIE to 3.0 in the BIOS - switching that back to auto corrected the speeds back to what one would expect. Now we’ll just have to see whether that operates stably or not

The same issue like all the other folks here, sadly it looks when the drive is around or above 50%, the write speeds get from 4-5k to 1k, that's unacceptable behavior and we as customers should have zero tolerance for accepting this, either allow folks get their money back or fix this, this is a global issue and there's no a SINGLE person that doesn't face this issue, so please don't put the blame on the customer in any way.

Motherboard: x570 TUF gaming wifi

CPU: 3700x

Memory brand: G.skill

Memory model: Trident Z RGB

Memory capacity: 32GB

Memory speed: 3600 / PC4 28800

BIOS Version: 2802

Windows Build and Version: Win 10 Pro 64 bit (2004)

MP600 Capacity: 1TB

MP600 Firmware Version: 11.3

Using drive as OS or storage? OS

Which M.2 slot: Main slot

Stock heatsink on MP600: Yes

Above 50% (or around it e.g. 46-49%):

- Writing at 1k speeds

Below the above:

- Writing at 4.2k speed.

What I tested and my settings so far?

- CDM with highest test counts (9) test size @ 32

- BIOS default settings + PCI-E m.2 on gen 4 to ensure Mobo doesn't switch weirdly to anything else.

- Power plan on highest performance - also quick startup disabled as recommended (didn't help ofc).

- Switched to other m.2 slot - didn't help ofc.

- Clean OS and then refill of the same above 50% - same issue.

- Testing without any side apps by running safe mode - didn't help, ofc.

- Disconnecting other SSDs, leaving this alone - didn't help, ofc.

- Making sure everything is up to date, firmware, BIOS, OS, everything related - didn't help, ofc.

So to me, after reading this thread, I'm in a position that I see no clear resolution, people have been calling out for help for over a year, and we the customers are the suckers here it seems, I have no willing into getting a replacement if I'll face the same issue and your legal excuse of "SSD degrades by the time" is BS, a simple test would be to fill it up above 50% and prove the point again and again.

What's the solution here folks? Are you going to keep darg everyone's feet for any longer or allow anyone who's owning this to return this for a full refund?

Edit: After more continuous testing, even at 30% usage of the disk, the performance is about 1k writing speed. temperatures are OK as-well, just looks like a complete fault device.

I did notice on page 7 of this post that someone received a new RMA package (which is a yellow package instead of normal white like mine) and the performance seems to be better.

I did create an RMA ticket (#2003692199) about this, hope to receive a replacement, to begin with, or even a full refund if possible.

Cross-posting this in threads as a warning.

Whatever you do, do NOT update your firmware.

Please note that I have even decreased my storage utilization between the two tests in a manner that should have had a positive effect.

WTF

Also I have stupid idea that the speed issue is somehow related to if its windows drive(c bootable) or storage drive. Because i lose speed on windows but not on storage (i have 2 same drives)

yes same to me. I installed additional drive (WD SN750) Cloned the MP510 and now i am using WD 750 as System drive. The Corsair, which was poor of data transfer is now good. Strange

The same thing happened to me. I changed my slow MP600 for a Samsung 980 Pro, and when using the MP600 as a data drive only the speed is consistent "as advertised" or very close.

So are you saying that after updating the firmware to v13 on OS and data drives you're only seeing a performance drop on the system\OS partition?

I have three MP600s in my system - a single drive used for the OS and two drives configured as a Storage Space (no resilience).

As the SSD Toolbox is unable to update the firmware on the drives used for the Storage Space I've only being able to upgrade to v13 on my system drive and that's when the performance drop was noted.

I've received a replacement drive through the RMA process but this too suffered from poor write performance despite being delivered with v11.3 on it.

I'm baffled.

I have two MP600s both on 11.3 still, did an ASSSD run on each sequentially. Boot (C ) drive is about 1/4 full:

Data drive is about 4/5ths full -

NKFVVqM.png

Read access time is worse, otherwise all looks within margin of error, so this capacity/write speed issue someone reported is a bizarre one - motherboard related maybe?

Edit - CDM comparison, full drive certainly hurt random writes, but sequential not at all.

Incidentally I turned off write cacheing & gave CDM a run again - no difference in performance between the drives ( although the actual write performance is understandably ... challenged ). I have very little idea about how to tune Windows write cacheing & if it defaults to different numbers across installs.

I've also run into this problem... When it was new I got full speed (write 4432MB/s). I did a random test yesterday since I thought a file was unpacking very slow, lo and behold, happy holidays to me, the drive suck.

I've updated to latest firmware (didn't help), deactivated and reactivated write cache, also ran the command a few pages back that fills the drive then trims. Didn't help..

Is there a fix on the way?

edit: Thought my specs would show automatically.

Mobo: Asus B550-F Gaming

edit2: found the PDF, I did all three steps, didn't help.

Hello everybody,

have the same problem...

Motherboard: MSI MEG X570 ACE

CPU: Ryzen 9 3900X

Memory Brand: Corsair

Memory Model: Dominator Platinum RGB

Memory Capacity: 32GB

Memory Speed: CL18

BIOS Version: 7C35v1C

Windows Build and Version: Win 10 Pro 64 bit (2004)

MP600 Capacity: 2TB

MP600 Serial Number (Look at RMA Request):

MP600 Firmware Version: 11.3

Using drive as OS or storage? OS and Steam

Which M.2 slot: First Slot

Stock heatsink on MP600: No

If no, what are you using for a heatsink? Chipset

- The SSD is 50% full.

- If I run the benchmark, the write performance rose up to 4200MB/s for about 1 second and then they dropped down to about 980MB/s.

- The larger the file during the test, the worse the write values will be. You can see it at the AS SSD benchmark.

- The WDSN750 in the system runs without problems.

- Windows Trim function has no effect.

- Sometimes the write performance is for one or two benchmarks alright.

- I made a request for this at Corsair on January 5th, 21st. No feedback so far.

- What is meant with "Number of Error Information Log Entries" in the S.M.A.R.T. values?
