Question TX 650 V2 more noisy than first version?

I just bought TX 650 V2 for a new rig and to my suprise and noted that the fan actually is quite noisy even when the computer is at low or no load. And then checked the Corsairs own specs and noted that the low load fan noise is actually measured to be higher compared to the first version of TX 650.

How come Corsair makes such a design choice for a new version of a supply with higher effeciency and larger fan?

Default TX V2 Whirring Noise

Having RMA'd a dead TX650W, I received a replacement TX650V2 from Corsair. I have noticed that I'm getting a whirring noise from the PSU fan under all loads.

I have tried refitting the PSU back into the HAF 922 case (bottom fitting PSU) to rule out any vibration or something else but no luck.

I would be interested to know if others experience a similar sound with the TX V2 range or appreciate any ideas on minimising the noise.

If you have tried the suggestions posted here and nothing helps then we can try replacing the PSU for you. The PSU is not completely silent, but should not be loud enough to be bothersome.
