I've had the Scimitar for a couple of days now, I haven't noticed any issue like this so far. But I am using Windows 8.1, I'll keep an eye on it. I do plan to upgrade to Win 10 soon too.

Just now I've gone to Settings -> Device -> Disable Device Lightning to see if that stops the problems. Although I hate not having the lighting, but the mouse dying in the middle of a game is totally unacceptable.
Talk about timing, after having posted that I did not have the issue I just had it a few hours later. I was looking at some Amazon tabs in Chrome when it happened in case it can help track the issue.

I've attached my log.

my mouse after a while seems to stop either responding like the side buttons or it decides to move choppy and i cant click or get any response from the side buttons in game.

The only way to fix it is to unplug it and connect it to make it work. Its only seems to happen in game I mostly play guild wars 2.

I have got Windows 10 64bit and the latest cue software.

mouse firmware 1.06
bootloader 0.02

Using rainbow linked colours with my strafe.

I have attached copy of log file below, there seems to be quite a few errors showing up even when I boot my machine is that meant to be like that?

Idea Alienware users?

Are any of the other people having trouble using the Alienware AlienFX software with their Scimitars? I've been doing some extensive troubleshooting with multiple Scimitars (I received a replacement through Amazon) and it's starting to look like my problem was a compatibility issue between the STRAFE RGB and/or Scimitar lighting schemes and the Alienware software I had installed on my computer that had the "Enable Third Party AlienFX Access" option selected.

I've disabled the third party access and haven't had trouble using the Scimitar CUE linked to my STRAFE RGB in over two days. (Before this I had to unplug and re-insert my Scimitar between three and four times a day.)

Some additional information from my end:

I'm on Ubuntu 14.04 and am using ckb to manage my lighting and keymap preferences for my Scimitar, running firmware 1.06.

When I have ckb running a simple "fade" animation between two colors on the front light / wheel light / logo light, the mouse demonstrates the symptoms described in this thread after some time (between a few hours and a handful of days) - stuttering cursor and non-working mouse buttons. Additionally, after the mouse has been unplugged and replugged, it takes a while for the mouse to reinitialize, and ckb-daemon must be restarted for the mouse to resume side-button functionality.

When the mouse enters the non-working state, the logo also turns an anomalous color that changes from incident to incident but is usually some shade of pink or lilac.

After disabling the animation, I can operate the mouse with ckb running for multiple weeks of uptime without incident.

Possibly there is a rare FW issue with color-change commands that only manifests with low frequency.

This issue with the Scimitar is a known one, I had it happen myself yesterday and this morning (on Win 8.1). Corsair is aware of it and is already working on a fix. When the fix will be out.. I have no idea

Well so far mine has been fine since I changed all the lighting to solid colours on the mouse and under USB setting in power management I changed the USB selective suspend setting to off.

So far it has not crashed since gaming over the weekend. So I guess theres something wrong with the link lighting or or other lighting modes.

I will try the other lighting modes again with the UBS suspend off to rule out some things.

After disabling third party access to the Alienware software, I had no problems for a little over 48 hours. To test my theory, I re-enabled the 3rd party access and experienced the same failure as I had previously after about 2 hours. Based on this, I believe my problem was an incompatibility between the CUE software and/or Scimitar mouse using the lighting sync with other 3rd party software that controls lighting schemes in my system.

I have a new Scimitar (Delivered Friday) using it with a K65 and it is barely usable even as a standard mouse for desktop activities, click's not actioned and random hesitation and lock up's moving cursor around the workspace. I have attempted to set lighting functions but find that is loses settings after a few minutes of use.

I'm not using any third party software or have anything mapped to the buttons.

Are people RMA'ing their mice or is it thought to be a firmware problem?

Definitely upgrade the firmware, but it sounds like you have a defective mouse. I never had a mouse fail right out of the box like that.

I've noticed the mouse seems to die on me if I'm using the side buttons more often (gaming), whereas it'll keep working if I'm just doing regular desktop stuff. Anyone else notice that?

Also the mouse died on me twice during a game causing my team to fail :( I have to play with a regular mouse now. Very sad.

When I was having issues, it would happen during a game, just bumping around the web, and once I came back after having been away for a few hours and it had seized up the same way.

Windows 7, no alienware software around. Crashes quickly if in rainbow mode, does not seem to crash ever if it's solid colors.

To anyone that is considering RMAing, try disable mouse lighting first, under Setting -> Device.

Just an update on the mouse not functioning after a while. It does seem to be a problem with the lighting effects. Having it on solid colours or off seems to be a fix and works fine with solid colours. I hope corsair fix this issue as I did not spend £75 just to have solid lighting and not having the rainbow effect like my strafe rgb.
