Zan Lynx Posted July 10, 2019 Share Posted July 10, 2019 I'm in the middle of configuring a new Ryzen 3900x build. Amazon can't seem to actually deliver my boot drive. Go figure. When I was at Microcenter all they had left for 3600 MHz DDR4 was some H----X which is OK I suppose. But I'd love a Ryzen compatible 3600+ 32 or 64 GB set with RGB lights, and this is key, ECC. I don't think ECC is just for servers anymore. Gamers can love it too. It's very useful especially when overclocking and getting close to the edge on latency. I was going to try it with my Ryzen 5 2600 but go figure I ended up getting bit by the RGB bug now I don't really want to get rid of my RGB ram. Why can't it be beautiful and error correcting and high speed? Does Ryzen 3000's (non-Pro chips) support ECC? I was trying to find some info on that and came across a website but not sure of it's accuracy. Zan Lynx Posted July 12, 2019 Author Share Posted July 12, 2019 I run 32 GB of ECC with a Ryzen 1700x on an Asus 370-Pro board. It works. As I understand it the AMD cops with iGPU cannot use ECC because the GPU cannot handle it. All of the Ryzen chips know how to do ECC and will as long as the motherboard wired all the traces and didn't disable things in their BIOS.
