tyjones
I recently upgraded my systems from 4 CM2X1024-6400C4D to using the QUAD2X4096-8500C5DF. My EPP settings are enabled and I'm running the most recent BIOS version (1.4.1). After the installation of the new memory, I went to BIOS to check to see if the new settings were updated, and I'm still showing 4-4-4-12 at 800Mhz. Am I dealing with bad memory? I'm suppose to get 5-5-5-15 at 1066Mhz. Dell tech support won't help because installing this memory technically breaks their warrantly, even though they support EPP memory. Wired
it doesn't break the warranty, they just won't support non-Dell stuff.
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted July 18, 2007 Corsair Employee Share Posted July 18, 2007 I believe that was what was hard set in that system. But did you try and reset the BIOS and then go and load setup defaults and set the Voltage and SLI setting?
tyjones
The only BIOS settings you can change is Processor speed and to enable/disable SLI memory. The machine originally at PC-5300 Memory in there. When I turn SLI and added the Dominator PC-6400 memory, the system registered the correct timings. Somehow, if the speed is set by default, it would register. Otherwise I can't change them.
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted July 19, 2007 Corsair Employee Share Posted July 19, 2007 Then I am sorry it would be best to use the modules that cam with your system.
tyjones
That's fine. I'm returning this memory to where I purchase it from and continuing to use the Dominator TWIN2X2048-6400 memory I had previously.
