billy1ear
I picked the memory listed above based on plugging in the mb I have into your ram configuration tool, but there seems to be compatibility issues with these sticks and the dfi nf4 ultra-d (based on lurking/posting in the dfi support forums). I have followed this thread http://www.houseofhelp.com/forums/showthread.php?t=36948&page=1&pp=15 in your forums but see no new developments. The only way I get a stable install is with 1x512 stick. I have tried the bios setting you listed in the above thread as well as others. I have just about resigned myself to the fact that I will have to buy some other dimms that are friendly with this board. Any suggestion? Thanks in advance. ps I saw in the dfi "approved memory post" that the 512 version of this pair is ok'ed not the 1024 3200xl. Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted March 29, 2005 Corsair Employee Share Posted March 29, 2005 Can you tell me the exact bios settings you have set for the memory and CPU?
billy1ear
I think this is it............. I have also tried the ones you suggested in the link pasted above, it got rid of errors on test 8 of memtest86, as did the ones below. Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted March 29, 2005 Corsair Employee Share Posted March 29, 2005 All of our XMS3200XL and XMS4400C25 modules are made with Samsung TCCD IC's. And so the correct settings solve the problem them?
billy1ear
You never told me what the correct settings were.

billy1ear
You asked me to post my current settings, which are pasted above. These are what I am able to run on now but only with one stick, bought twinx kinda would like to use both pair at once. I can pass memory tests all day, but with 2 sticks plugged in I get bsod and application terminations. Thanks, billy

Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted March 29, 2005 Corsair Employee Share Posted March 29, 2005 Just load setup/Optimized defaults and then set these settings. billy1ear
Thanks again for your reply. Made the changes you suggested, plugged in 2nd stick, and passed 1hr of memtest86 (has only ever failed on test 8). Played some games, ran some apps and got 1 bsod. Guess I will change the 1t/2t setting to auto. I hate to hamstring the ram though, I bought it as I wanted the higher performance. I will let you know how it goes. blink182prj
Sorry to hijack the thread, but I have similar memory problems, although I am running TWINX1024-3200C2, not the XL. I tried the settings here and got tons of errors in memtest before realizing that the latencies you gave were too low for my memory. Could you give me some settings that will hopefully work out better?
Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted March 30, 2005 Corsair Employee Share Posted March 30, 2005 billy1ear Let's try replacing your modules. Please follow the link in my signature “I think I have a bad part!” and we will be happy to replace them or it! blink182prj Just load setup/Optimized defaults and then set these settings. billy1ear
2t timing seems to be stable. RMA approved so I guess I'll send it in but I think there is something about this memory and the motherboard I have chosen that they don't play nice togther. DFI does not even put it on their recommended memory list.

billy1ear
Got the RMA back and the new chips passed memtest86 at default speeds, the original sticks had to be tweaked down to pass, but I still have the same problems once I load windows. Will call the 888 number.

billy1ear
Still having stability issues, so I contacted dfi and got the reply pasted below. My problem is the dram voltage, in searching your forum it looks like the max supported voltage is 2.9 and they say 3.0 . What do you think? Also the RAM is not exactly like mine, but I would assume they have had success with this or they would not have made the recommendation. Bill ========================================= Sorry for late response. I've got some suggestion from DFI H/Q but written in Chinese. Here is the translation: Please check the attachment. We used LAN Party NF4 Ultra-D BIOS on 3/10/2005 with 2 stick of Corsair CMX512-3200LL /DDR400 CL 2-2-2-5 on Slot # 2 and 4; everything working fine with CPC enabled. Here is the suggestion. 1. Use one stick of memory plug into slot #2 and go to CMOS to increase the VDIMM to 3.0V 2. Also under "DRAM configuration" set Command Per Clock - enabled CAS Latency Control - 2 RAS# to CAS delay - 2 Min RAS# active Time- 5 Row Precharge Time - 2 3. Save and exit and shutdown the power then plug in another stick on slot 4 and restart. Everything will be OK. Please try and give us updated.
