Default Linux on SSDs

I would like to use RedHat or Ubuntu with an SSD.
But I also have the choice to use Windows 7.

Would it possible be better to use Windows 7?

Did Microsoft possible implement things in Windows 7 which the openSource community has not yet implemented in Linux?

Especially thinkng about fewer writes to the disk and things like that.
