H150i Pro and Vertical Mounting

I have an H150i Pro and a 570X Mirror Black case.

My question is about the orientation of the radiator.

When mounting vertically, the radiator should be placed with the hoses at the bottom of the block to keep air from being sucked into the CPU water block. There is 2%-10% air in these systems when shipped and more accumulates with time. It just makes sense that the air will be at the top of the block when mounted vertically. Corsair and other manufacturers are not vocal about this for some reason.

So, why is it Corsair does not make the hoses long enough to reach the CPU in this orientation? The 570X case is made with room at the front for a 360 cooler. This is the only way there is room to do a push/pull configuration. It can be mounted on the top, but will be extremely close to hitting the motherboard with just one set of fans.

If the hoses could run a straight route they might make it, but having to go around a large video card will keep them from reaching. Plus, who the heck wants hoses that are stretched out straight in a nice setup?

What are the engineers thinking? Do they just not care? I'm confused and disappointed that the design does not meet the standard it should. The AIO is going to die prematurely due to this and I can't remedy it without purchasing a different, larger case.

Hey buddy, Helped you with your build when you first got the case :) ..

my experience is

same cooler.. 3 years.. this cooler replaced a h100i v2 that had done same orientation for more years than i care to remember lol (which is still running now in my sons machine in same orientation)

this machine runs 12+ hrs a day.. shut down every night.. has done for the life of the case and cooler which i bought on release.. have also fitted a lot of these for people.. not seen any problems my self

Hoses at top this year

h100i did years like it in few cases

Imho you will be fine mounting it in the normal orientation in the 570x. I am awaiting the H150i Elite and that will be mounted the same...

but as an option...

yes push/pull looks lovely.. i do it where ever i can. but 100% not needed on a rad that thin lol. but! to get 3 fans top and 3 fans front.. sure does look good lol

Yes. You gave me great advice about creating positive pressure inside the case. What was weird is at work we add air pumps to enclosures all the time to create positive pressure. For some reason, I wasn't thinking about that case in the same way.

Good to hear the pumps are lasting in that orientation. My biggest concern is air getting trapped in the block and hindering the cooling ability. I have not done any testing, just going off of testing from others. It is hard for me to believe the air at the top of the radiator will stay there and not make it to the CPU block sooner or later.

If you have not watched it, go check Gamer Nexus AIO Orientation on YouTube. Pretty convincing argument for not putting the hoses at the top since the flow can be seen in real time.
