Neil3
This post is for the RAMguy. I need more memory for my Dell Dimension 8400, a model not listed in the selection tool. Will Corsair TWIN2X4096-6400C5C 4GB XMS2 PC2-6400 800Mhz 240-pin Dual Channel DDR2 Desktop Memory (which has a nice rebate) work in my computer? Thank you. Corsair Employee RAM GUY Posted August 4, 2010 Corsair Employee Share Posted August 4, 2010 I do apologize however that machine is limited to 1GB modules per slot. You could run the VS2GBKIT533D2 kit though. That would be 2x1GB modules.
RJLeong65
This post is for the RAMguy. I need more memory for my Dell Dimension 8400, a model not listed in the selection tool. Will Corsair TWIN2X4096-6400C5C 4GB XMS2 PC2-6400 800Mhz 240-pin Dual Channel DDR2 Desktop Memory (which has a nice rebate) work in my computer? Regrettably, no. This is because the Dimension 8400 was designed and manufactured before Intel even adopted the x86-64 platform. As such, that system is strictly 32-bit, and thus have a maximum per-slot capacity of 1GB (and only those 1GB modules that are double-sided or double-ranked are compatible; some 1GB DDR2 modules currently on the market are only single-ranked and will not work with your system).
