Default The cover at the side of the ram

Hi guys, I have removed the heatspreaders of my vengeance rams since my new heatsink does not fit well. The problem is, at the one side of the ram, there is a thick, solid tape like cover that does not seem to be removed so I did not want to scratch it before asking you guys. Should I touch it or not?

In general if you don't have to remove it, just leave it on there, as removing the heatspreader and the tape is likely to void your warranty.

The strips between the memory ICs and the heatspreader are made of thermally conductive adhesive transfer tape. If your kit is single sided - so with ICs only on one side of the PCB - the blank side will probably have a thicker strip that primarily acts as a spacer, so that the heatspreader still fits like on dual sided kits.
