I have my Dominators stable at 1600Mhz with 1.750v on the DIMM, XMP Profile 1 set, and everything else on default settings. Don't know how comfortable I am with them at that voltage but they are perfectly stable it seems. My other set will be here tomorrow afternoon, then I will post my findings.

USPS misdirected my RMA back to Newegg and go figure their entire package tracking site has been down for the passed few days. Newegg just updated their status that they have received the RMA and are shipping out a new set tomorrow. Should get them by Friday...Will post then...

I think the problem may not be the memory but we can try replacing the modules if you like.
Let's get them replaced, please use the On Line RMA Request Form and we will be happy to replace them.

I got my new RAM in and they work fine at Default settings with XMP Profile and 1.65v DIMM. (Different brand)

But after a little overclock to 3.8Ghz with the RAM at 1602Mhz I had to bump the DIMM to 1.675v. I have tried various different voltage settings and come up empty handed. But when I bump the DIMM to 1.675v I have no problems.

I dont think 1.675v is to horrible but the Dominators running at 1.75v was making me very uncomfortable about the long term health of my i7 920.

Mine works great now too.
I didn't use the default XMP Profile. I just set the timings and frequency and all is well.

So what was the consensus here guys? Did the replacement sticks solve the problem? Did you have to increase the DIMM voltage beyond 1.65v?

I am getting an i7 920 and the evga E758 board, and I was set on getting this memory kit in discussion, but naturally this thread has scared me.

Just trying to figure out if I should go for it (i.e. all issues have been resolved), or if I should opt for other memory.

Thanks!

got the new sticks today. so far so good! running prime95 for an hour no crashes. i'll let you know if anything changes but i think it was just a bad batch.

fwiw im running the xmp profile right out of the box no oc yet.

still running great!

not getting my hopes up but the longest i was able to run my computer with my previous sticks at 1600 was 15 minutes so it's looking good.

Looks like I was not so fortunate...I got the new stix today...Setup Profile1 and it doesn't even want to boot into windows...Just automatically reboots...Works fine under normal 1033 settings though...Maybe the sticks just don't want to work with my MB...Guess I will RMA again and choose a different brand...

Ok...I spoke too soon...I've been reading some additional stuff and it seems like some MB have issues with the XMP setting...So I manually adjusted mine with the following overclock and did not use the XMP setting...

So the biggest change was setting the Command Rate to 2T and tRC to 41...It was formerly 1T and 27 respectively...So it seems stable...Though I think for now I will just keep this set. I've been reading about real world performance and I'm just going to overclock my CPU to 3.6GHz with a memory overclock of about 1400MHz...Which is good enough for me...

(Turbo disabled)
