[BUG] Fan profile on commander pro not working

So I updated my iCUE to the latest 3.2.87 and I've been getting an issue that it doesn't follow my fan profile. If you have a look here, you can see that I set one of my fan to only start after GPU hits 50C. However, the fan kept running at ~850rpm the whole time. The 2nd image shows that iCUE detect the right GPU temps so yeah...

I think I have the same problem (and I actually RMA'd my commander pro to only find out it's not a hardware issue!)

 

For me it's fan 1 that doesn't follow the custom curve (checked to see if it was the fan by using the mobo temporarily for that)

Tried a force firmware update, didn't work. Also, mine works with the preset settings such as "quiet", "balance", and "extreme" but custom curves no longer work.

 

Is there a way to download the previous version of iCUE?

The Link versions are still on the website (currently 4.9.7.xx). If you made a lot of new profiles in iCUE, I would export them to a special iCUE folder or save your AppData/Roaming/Corsair folder for a later date.

 

However, you may want to read through the two threads below first. There seems be a bug in the last iCUE that causes this, but it is correctable without hardware replacement or firmware flashes.

nah, I was talking about the previous version of iCUE not Link. Also, I don't get by in one of the threads you said this:

and I tried as you did, do rounded numbers and it does't work. Currently I just leave it on "quiet" mode till hopefully corsair fix it for the next update.

It means after having my custom curve lock up with fans stuck at a fixed speed for a week, I was able to resolve it by clicking on the curve shaping tool in the top right, then re-adjusting to the values I wanted. It has worked ever since and a for a few other people. Takes about 3 seconds to try.

 

There is a firmware update for the C-Pro out (0.08.210). No notes yet, but that is something else to try.

ah, I get what you mean now. It worked initially when I click those curves but immediately stopped when I change the value. Also, C-Pro on mine listed 0.07.199 as latest.

 

Edit: Also, since I forced the update yesterday, for C-Pro, everytime I click update to check for update it just force update 0.07.199 every time.

That’s actually very interesting. I don’t know why the curve shaping tools fix it, but the subsequent fail after adjusting might help them narrow down the underlying issue. My GPU pump curve looks a lot like your line graph (flat with delayed, sharp rise) and that one has always worked. The best guess I have is it’s some kind of math bug where specific values cause the fan to get stuck. Try using even, landmark values like 700, 850, 900, etc. and enter them in the text boxes rather than dragging the points.

 

Don’t know about the firmware. I only noticed because it notified me at the bottom of iCUE. Then when I clicked it, it made it look like it was flashing 0.07.199, only to say 0.08.xx when it was all over.
