Request: iCUE ELITE CAPELLIX - Lower RPM (< 2000 RPM) for Quiet Profile via Firmware

Recommended Posts

Please Provide Firmware update to have the elite line of PUMP to spin lower than 2200 RPM. It is way too loud for normal pc usage.

I have found that Platinum line of AIOs also had this issue and was fixed via firmware update - link below

https://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?t=182257&highlight=corsair+platinum+pump&page=3

As a reference H150I Pro RGB (Asetek pump) which I also own have quiet profile of 1100 RPM which is silent.

thank you.

hello thanks for reaching out.

it is already set as the lowest setting allowed which is quiet profile.

the problem is quiet profile spins the pump at 2200 RPM which is what it was designed to do based on spec

I don't think this is defective, and just by design of the of coolit branded pump which the elite line uses.

what I am asking for is, basically give us another profile with lower pump speed so we can use that when browsing, office work or idle.

something isn't right when pump noise overwhelms the 10 other fans(3 ML(300RPM) from elite aio, 4LL(700 rpm), 3 QL(600rpm)) in the case. I don't hear any noise from the fans from where I am sitting. I turn off all fans to 0 rpm. the humming noise comes from the pump. As a reference, My H150iPro PUMP(Asetek) also spins around 2100 rpm when using balanced profile which has similar humming noise. when using quiet profile, pump is at 1100 rpm which is silent.

Pump(elite: Coolit) at 2200 rpm is way to high for quiet profile in my opinion.

other owners of the platinum series of coolers also complained about the pump which also uses Coolit brand, which Corsair lowered the pump speed via firmware update, you can refer to the thread from my original post.

Thanks.

Corsair Support team got back to me regarding the pump speed.

AIO specialist team

"cooler has a hardware limitation where it can't physically go below those high speeds even when in low"

it is a little disappointing that elite line can not be fixed by firmware update unlike the Platinum line of AIO which was lowered by the firmware update.

so ultimately pump can not go any lower than what it is now (2200-2300 RPM).

I am not sure if I can live with the noise(humming and slight high pitch noise). This is the only thing I hear from the pump.

So I may just go back to the H150i Pro with the quiet profile 1100 RPM (pump). I will really miss the CAPELLIX LEDs, they sure look awesome.

I hope one day, corsair would make a elite aio with Asetek pump which has a lower pump speed or improved Coolit pump with lower pump speed. PUMP RPM range of 2200 - 2600 with 200 increments is just not adequate. Really need something lower for office work or when pc is idle.

thanks again to the Corsair Phone Support team for getting back to me so quickly.

Never tried the Elite Capellix, but my pumps have always been silent at all speeds. Right now I'm using an H150i Pro RGB in my main rig and just installed H100i RGB Platinum in my second rig, can't hear the pumps on either of them at any speed setting, and the PCs aren't loud (silent fan profiles). Sounds like you either have a defective pump, or you've mounted the cooler in such a way that air has gotten into the pump. Shouldn't be an issue if mounted horizontally at the top of the case, but if you've got it mounted vertically, make sure tubes are down at the bottom, not at the top.

hey thanks for your reply

1. My AIO is mounted horizontally at the top. I know there is no bubbles, because pump does not make gargling or rattling noise

2. Yes. H150i Pro RGB 360mm(I upgraded from this) is silent when set to quiet profile (1100RPM)

3. when H150i Pro RGB is set to balanced (2200RPM) you can hear the pump from normal sitting distance. The noise is similar to Elite Capelix pump at (2200-2300 rpm.).

4. If you look at my original post Platinum line received a firmware update which lowered the quiet profile to below 2000 rpm for the pump. I think users reported that it was lowered to 1700 rpm from 2300 rpm.

5. The noise from the pump can be annoying depending on ambient noise level in your room. I have a quiet office. and pump is the only thing I hear from my case, because when my rig is idling or doing office work none of my 10 fans spin. Even when fans are on, I still only hear the pump. my fans run between 300-700 rpm depending on fan type (3 ML pro from AIO (300rpm) 4LL (700 RPM) 3 QL (600 RPM)) at the lowest speed

Strange, I can't hear a thing from either of my pumps at any speed, quiet, balanced, or extreme, I never hear them, even with fans at super low levels. I always just leave them at extreme, because I can't hear a difference and it results in better coolant temps. Never have tried with all fans completely off, though, but it stays fairly quiet where I use both PCs most of the time, and my fan profiles are very quiet, minimum speeds on all fans. I have 9 fans in my PCO11 rig where the H150i lives, and only have 2 of them running at idle. However, neither of my PCs are right next to me, either. My main rig is about 4-5 feet to the left of me while sitting at my desk, and my HTPC is about 10 feet away from the couch. Edited by c00lkatz

I don't hear my 150i Elite, but the only other AIO I've had was the Pro XT so maybe I am just used/tuning out to that level of sound...not sure. But I don't recall any pump specific noise. I tried an Artic Freezer II 280 - now that pump made some noise... it constantly was clicking, running top mount so I don't think there were any air issues, but who knows. I actually returned it b/c I though I got a bad one.

I own H115i platinum and quite surprised that elite capellix has some kind of hardware limitation that won't allow for firmware update to reduce speed. It's strange because the pump is also manufactured by the same manufacturer as platinum series (also elite capellix is touted as the premium AIO, high range speed control should be a feature).

However, I do not hear any difference with quite and balance mode with my platinum cooler. The quite mode can indeed goes below 2000 rpm. It might be that my ears are tuned to the humming noise or yours are more sensitive to this kind of sound.

There is very minor difference between each mode, because it is a only incremental by 200 rpm on the pump.

I maybe more sensitive, because my old HI150i Pro (non xt) was dead silent at 1100 rpm(quiet) profile for the pump. I like silent PC when I do office work. I cant stand the hum. It also depends on how much ambient noise you have.

I am surprised by the hardware limitation as well how it can not go any lower. However, I think they can lower it if there are enough complaints because I think elite is using exact same pump as Platinum (Coolit Pump). This Elite AIO is so new that not many own it. I do see some reddit posts regarding pump noise on elite.

As for Platinum, corsair lowered the pump speed below 2k RPM via firmware https://forum.corsair.com/v3/showthread.php?t=182257&highlight=corsair+platinum+pump&page=3due to complaints about the pump noise

It looks like I did not link the correct forum post on the original post regarding lowering pump speed via firmware update for Platinum AIO. I have updated the link.

I am still hoping that Corsair will lower the pump speed for quiet profile before my return period ends. If not I am going back to Corsair H150i Pro (non xt) but gonna miss the elite CAPELLIX Leds

It is also a little disappointing because Corsair's LL, ML and QL fans are silent at low speeds. I also love their 0rpm on the RM1000i PSU.

with the combination of (ql, ml, LL:(10 total) 0 rpm at low temps) fans, PSU(0 rpm rm1000i) and RTX 3090 FE (0 rpm at low temp). non of my fans spin at lower temps when Idle or doing light office work.

My PC was silent before the upgrade to elite.

  • 3 weeks later...

I also want to ask for a way to lower the minimum RPM of the pump on the Elite Capelix.

Got an h115i the other day and its a good product cooling wise, and the leds are fantastic, but is really, REALLY loud even on the quietest mode, loder than any of the fans or the GPU itself.

So, if there is a way to reduce the pump noise via firmware, please do

new firmware may happen if enough people complain. I still have the Elite in my closet.

however, even if they can lower the pump speed. I wonder how low it can go because the pump is made by Coolit which generally don't have low rpm modes.

based on research on other AIOs in the market, AIOs with Coolit generally have very limited pump speed range and all have rpm of 2200-2300 for lowest speed and higher.

examples of AIOS with wide range of pump speed .

EK-AIO Elite(I think it is Asetek Pump. Not sure) : Pump Speed Range: 1000 - 3300 RPM ± 10%

NZXT z73(Asetek Pump) : Pump Motor Speed & Power: 800 – 2,800 + 300 RPM, 12V DC, 0.3A

H150i Pro (non xt) (Asetek Pump) : pump speed: 1100-2800 rpm (I am using this as of now, elite is in the closet)

You might ask, why not just buy another brand? because I like to stay in one ecosystem and stay in iCue. I do not like using multiple software.

I recently purchased the H115i ELITE CAPELLIX 280mm. The pump is silent at all speeds. With all fans off, I have to stick my head into my case to even hear the slight sound of the pump's impeller. I suggest you RMA.

On another note in regards to firmware... Every time I start my computer, the iCUE software fails to detect one of the cooler's fans, and the fan will not spin. To remedy the issue, I have to force a firmware update.

EDIT: The fan issue turned out to be a bad Corsair fan.

I also just got the H115i Capellix and the humming noise in "Quite" mode is really annoying.

My previous AIO was the H80iv2, where I could change Pump speed and it was so quite.

Now with the Commander Core, this cannot be changed and if I would have known that earlier, I might not have gotten this AIO.

@Corsair, please get us a new Firmware so we can get rid of this Pump noise. This is driving me nuts.

I have the same problem, I wrote to Corsair Support and I think I will be sending it under warranty.

But from what I can see it's probably not a hardware problem, but software.

The sound is very annoying and I can hear a pump even though the other fans are running, I can't even watch the movie because I can hear this sound which is very annoying! :(

H150i Elite Capellix with the same "issue" here. Clearly not a hardware fault, but rather disappointing that this happens on one of Coarsair's top of the line AIOs.

I came from air cooling and was well aware pump noise was something I was going to run into but, not to this extent. The only real workaround I've found is to ramp up the fans to a point where they mask the noise, which is ridiculous considering the price tag.

Like others, I'd love to stay in the ecosystem but this is driving me insane.

Anecdotal, but I just installed an H100i Platinum SE (which also has the Coolit pump). I have it set to Extreme pump, Quiet fans and the pump isn't audible outside the case. I can only hear a very slight hum if I stick my head in the case and put my ear up to the pump head.

Just installed a h115i Capellix this weekend.

I can hear my pump with the case closed and its so annoying. When I set to "quiet" its a whine, then balanced it goes and octave higher, then Extreme is an octave higher and very loud.

We need the option to set the pump lower than 2300rpm. I came from a H80i v2 and i could set that at 1200 rpm and it was silent.

I cant cope with the noise of this. its louder than my 5 bequiet fans and my 3080 MSI Suprim X combined!! Think i will have to RMA.

What do people recommend to go with for silent pump?

Any news on a firmware upgrade for this?
