ignorantbastrd
So I'm thinking of doing a compact matx build an I've had my eye on the Carbide air 240. I love the way it looks and the size seems perfect to me, except for the fact that my current gpu won't fit. I've heard some people have been able to get the 970 strix to fit but others say do even bother. So instead of the strix, I've been looking at the gigabyte 980 xtreme oc since the prices have dropped (I know the 980ti is superior in every way but idc) the problem is, the xtreme edition is a bit taller than the Windforce cards (that nobody seems to have anymore) and I don't want to have the same problem I got with the strix. Does anybody know whether or not the xtreme oc by gigabyte will fit?
Corsair Employee Corsair Nick Posted March 13, 2016 Corsair Employee Share Posted March 13, 2016 Not sure if we have an Xtreme card to test fit, but I'll check. Based on Gigabyte's specs for those cards, there is a pretty good chance it won't fit since they have a height of 136mm, and we already rate the case for 120mm with CPU coolers. The Windforce cards come in at 116mm for reference.
Corsair Employee Corsair Nick Posted March 15, 2016 Corsair Employee Share Posted March 15, 2016 Just measured an Air 240 with a motherboard and the Xtreme card for sure won't clear the side panel.
