Vulgrim
Hello, recently my rm750x started making a buzzing noise similiar to this: [ame] [/ame] But its higher pitched and wasnt there before and persists even when the PC is shut down. It stops if i turn off the PSU switch. I can only hear it if im close to the exhaust of the PSU and generally doesnt bother me unless its something bad with the PSU. I was wondering if this is just coil whining that recently developed or if its something dangerous/faulty ? Corsair Employee jonnyguru Posted August 16, 2020 Corsair Employee Share Posted August 16, 2020 It's just coil whine.... Remember that your +5V standby rail is always live, even when the PC is "off". But check this out... recently I moved my daughter's PC from the desk to the floor. I plugged a powered USB hub into an outlet and the PSU started buzzing even when the PC was "off". I was like, "weird... That wasn't there before." I unplugged the USB hub and the buzzing went away. First time I've ever experienced coil whine in my own home. :D Well.. other than graphics cards. Those things always make a racket. :D
Vulgrim
Thank you! Yea i was just worried cuz it was quiet a few weeks ago. But you put my mind at ease. Interesting how some stuff can just cause coil whine like the USB hub. You learn something new everyday!

But yeah is werid that doing that on OFF status, but I dont understand anything about electricity, so if thats normal, its ok.
