Exclamation Applying Spectre/Meltdown Update to CORSAIR ONE (Z270)

As many of you may know, we’ve been working towards a solution to address the Spectre/Meltdown exploits in Intel-based systems such as the CORSAIR ONE. We greatly appreciate your patience while we worked on this. The process we’ve outlined is a bit more involved than a typical BIOS update due to the nature of what needs to be updated. So please ensure you read these instructions before attempting to do this on your own.

These instructions are specifically for the following CORSAIR ONE models:

Step 1: Download BIOS update from and prepare a USB Flash Drive
- The Spectre/Meltdown update for your CORSAIR ONE system can be found in the “Downloads” page on
- Unzip the download file and copy the content of the unzipped folder to the root of a blank USB drive.

Step 2: Power on your CORSAIR ONE and boot to BIOS
- Power on your CORSAIR ONE system and press the “DELETE” key a few times on your keyboard as it boots up, this should put you in the main BIOS screen.

Step 3: Disable Secure Boot in BIOS
- Once in BIOS, hit the “F7” key and go to “Settings” -> “Advanced” -> “Windows OS” -> “Secure Boot”
- Ensure that “Secure Boot Mode” is set to “Disabled”

Step 4: Change Boot Priority, save settings, and restart your CORSAIR ONE
- Boot Order Priority settings are found in Settings\Boot .
- Change “Boot Option #1” to the UEFI USB Key (this is the prepared USB drive created earlier)
- Hit F10 on your keyboard to save settings and restart, the system should now boot from the USB Drive.

Step 5: Follow the prompts to proceed with the initial BIOS flash

Note: If the current BIOS is version 4QF, the following prompt will appear:

Note: The system will reboot once during this process.

Step 6: Reboot to complete initial BIOS flash and return to BIOS to begin second flash
- Press and hold “DELETE” while system boots to return to BIOS screen.
- Go to “Advanced” mode by hitting the F7 key or by clicking “Advanced” at the top of the screen.

- Select “M-FLASH” and follow the prompts.

- Select the E7A66IZ1.4C1 file on the USB drive

- Continue following the prompts, the process may take a minute or so once it starts.
Note: The system will reboot twice during this process.

Step 7: Go into BIOS again, apply default settings, and save.

- During the second reboot of the BIOS flash, hit “DELETE” on your keyboard until the BIOS screen appears.
- Hit the “F6” key to apply “Optimized Default” settings (this’ll remove the Boot Priority and Secure Boot changes we made previously).
- Hit “F10” to save and exit BIOS.

And That’s It!
