Default compatibility???

Hello, I have ordered an Intel DQ965GF Intel Core 2 Duo Ready Socket 775 MicroATX Motherboard and an Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe 2.4GHz 4M shared L2 Cache LGA 775 Processor - BX80557E6600. The processor has a 1066MHz FSB.
I would like to get 2x1GB memory. More specifically TWIN2X2048-6400C4D , but in the manual from intel that I downloaded it states:
Support for:
― Unbuffered, non-registered single or double-sided DIMMs
― Non-ECC DDR2 memory
― DIMM Type and Timings listed below:
Type Timing
DDR2-800 5-5-5 or 6-6-6 only
DDR2-667 5-5-5 only
DDR2-533 4-4-4 only
― Serial Presence Detect (SPD) memory only
― Memory configurations listed below:
• Up to 2.0 GB utilizing 256 Mb technology
• Up to 4.0 GB utilizing 512 Mb or 1 Gb technology
• Up to 8.0 GB utilizing 1 Gb technology

I read a responce to a thread on this site from Ram man that said you could run DDR2 800Mhz memory on this board if you had a 1066MHz FSB.
Will TWIN2X2048-6400C4D memory work on this motherboard and if not what memory is recommended?

Checking the compatibility site (http://www.corsair.com/configurator/....aspx?id=11499), the TwinX series aren't listed.

Not surprised really, as Intel mobos are for OEMs and stability, not for overclocking. They rarely ever allow beyond JEDEC spec voltage settings.

Default compatability???

Wired, thank you for your reply. I read in another post that the TWIN2X2048-6400C5DHX were 1.8 volts. The intel post dated July 30th 2007 at:

http://support.intel.com/support/mot.../CS-025978.htm

states that:
"The board has four DIMM sockets and supports the following memory features:
1.8 V (only) DDR2 SDRAM DIMMs with gold-plated contacts
Unbuffered, single-sided or double-sided DIMMs with the following restriction: Double-sided DIMMs with x16 organization are not supported.
8 GB maximum total system memory using DDR2 667 or DDR2 533 DIMMs; 4 GB maximum total system memory using DDR2 800 DIMMs
Minimum total system memory: 512 MB
Non-ECC DIMMs
Serial Presence Detect
DDR2 800, DDR2 667 or DDR2 533 MHz SDRAM DIMMs
DDR2 800 SIMMs with SPD timings of only 5-5-5 or 6-6-6 (tCL-tRCD-tRP)"
and
"Note
To be fully compliant with all applicable DDR SDRAM memory specifications, the board should be populated with DIMMs that support the Serial Presence Detect (SPD) data structure. This allows the BIOS to read the SPD data and program the chipset to accurately configure memory settings for optimum performance. If non-SPD memory is installed, the BIOS will attempt to correctly configure the memory settings, but performance and reliability may be impacted or the DIMMs may not function under the determined frequency. "
Will the TWIN2X2048-6400C5DHX work? If no, What is the best alternative?
Thank you in advance

they're tested at 1.9, max recommended at 2.1

The compatibility site says TwinX are NOT recommended for this platform.

Default compatability???

Wired, thank you again for your responce. I do understand what you are saying. I really do, but here is my problem/question:
On the Intel website that I refered to earlier it states that this motherboard does support DDR2 1GB 800Mhz memory. One example of that from the site is:

CT12864AA80E.16FD 1 GB 800 5-5-5 Non-ECC DSx8 0610 MT47H64M8B6-25E:D
(I checked the website and they state that this 1GB DDR2 800MHz memory card is 100% guaranteed compatible with my motherboard)

On the compatibility site (http://www.corsair.com/configurator/....aspx?id=11499) they don't list any Corsair DDR2 800Mhz memory at all let alone 1GB. I suspect that Corsair does make 1GB 800MHz DDR2 memory that I can use, I just wanted to make sure before I buy.
Also, this is from "Compatability Questions" on this site at:
http://www.houseofhelp.com/forums/sh...t=61684&page=2

from RAM GUY, "We did not make a DDR2-800 module that would run at 1.8 Volts until recently and that would be our Twin2x4096-6400C5DHX or Twin2x2048-6400C5DHX modules only."
and I found on the Corsair website at:
http://www2.corsair.com/_datasheets/T...-6400C5DHX.pdf
that the TWIN2X2048-6400C5DHX was tested at 1.8 volts.
I just wanted to be sure that I don't overlook something else or ...

AM I WRONG?? WILL THIS WORK? DOES IT EVEN HAVE A FIGHTING CHANCE?
SORRY AGAIN FOR MY CONFUSION. THANKS AGAIN.

M^2

Default compatability???

Also, I just found something on:
http://support.intel.com/performance.../predmodWP.pdf
It states that they tested the DQ965GF motherboard with the Corsair CM2X512A-6400 which is 512MB DDR2 800MHz memory that runs off 2.1 volts.

How can this be when the motherboard manual specifically states 1.8 volts only? Does anyone know for sure of any Corsair 1GB DDR2 800MHz memory that does work with this board?

Also, I just found info on:
http://download.intel.com/idf/us/docs/PS_ADTS001.pdf
That sais they used Corsair* 2x1GB DDR2 800 5-5-5-15 on this board

Can anyone confirm that it worked for them? I don't really want to take an Intel test as confirmation of working memory.

If your MB has the option to set the memory Voltage they should work with out problems. However, in the production version of Boxed Intel MB's all we have seen have not allowed you to set the memory Voltage and as such these module may not run properly at their tested settings.

Default Compatibility!!!

Hello,
Thank you all for your help. I went ahead and purchased the:
CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TWIN2X2048-6400C5DHX - Retail

It works like a charm. NO PROBLEMS. The memory was recognized and is running at the latencies posted 5.0-5-5-18.
I recomend these to anyone that has this motherboard.
To sum up, my system is:
1. APEVIA X-Navigator ATXA9NW-AL/500 Black/ Silver Steel ATX Mid Tower Computer Case 500W Power Supply - Retail
2. Intel DQ965GF Intel Core 2 Duo Ready Socket 775 MicroATX Motherboard
3. Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe 2.4GHz LGA 775 Processor Model BX80557E6600 - Retail
4. CORSAIR XMS2 2GB (2 x 1GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model TWIN2X2048-6400C5DHX – Retail
5. AMD ATI Radeon X1650 Pro 512MB PCI-E Graphics Card (100-437808)
6. Western Digital Caviar SE16 WD2500KS 250GB 7200 RPM SATA 3.0Gb/s Hard Drive - OEM
7. LITE-ON 20X DVD±R DVD Burner with LightScribe Black SATA Model LH-20A1L-06 - Retail

It is not the fastest or best, but it serves my needs and was just in my price range (about $720). It blows the roof off of my Pentium4, 3.2 GHz, 1GB ram, Radeon 9700. That system is a DELL Inspiron 9100 and cost me $2500 four years ago.

Yes the XM2S-6400C5DHX runs at 1.8 Volts so they should run great on that MB.
