The Reg hack works but in reality you shouldn't have to do this.
Come on Corsair get your finger out and sort these Win 8.1 problems out.
You have had plenty of time prior to the 8.1 release to make sure your products work.

Ps and the Headphone software is de funked as well
I agree...

I didn't read up on this problem before installing windows 8.1 from 7.

Good thing is that the pump saves your fan profiles in its memory, so my fans are working exactly like I want them.

I am going to say its very sad that these problems weren't worked out as soon as it was discovered by users.
The corsair link software has been a sort of an afterthought that hasn't been kept up with like it should. Meanwhile a lot of the people that purchased the "i" version of these coolers did so exactly for the software aspect. tsk tsk Corsair.

Our 8.1 testing of Corsair Link has been pretty eventful and requires some significant modification. We're making some changes on the way the USB device is identified as well as on the .NET side.

Once we're through with our internal testing process, we will release it here in BETA mode for a limited time for you to test and report bugs and incompatibilities.

Once that BETA is complete we will update the build on our website and here in the forums to the most recent, Windows 8.1 compatible build.

The timeline depends on how the stability and compatibility testing goes and how many bugs are reported in the BETA. We hope to have a Windows 8.1 BETA available in the next 4-6 weeks here on the forum.

I apologize for the delay and any inconvenience this may cause you.

I agree and it is frustrating but rest assured they guys at Corsair are not ignoring their customers. They are working to resolve this matter. Bearing in mind Microsoft kept Windows 8.1 close to their chest without letting developers a chance to develop new firmware and drivers for additional hardware.

The issue with the USB Link is actually down to Microsoft not Corsair. therefore it isn't their fault. Thankfully there is a Registry hack which is a work around at the moment. At least we have a solution which works at the moment and when there is a USBLink update available, the best thing I would recommend is reset the registry strings back to their default state 1 restart your PC and then update the USBLink. Until then just carry on as normal. I have.
