I had the exact same issue (random black screens) more than a year ago after a major Windows 10 update came out (I think it was the creators update), only disabling VT-d in the bios solved it.
Oh, now that's interesting.

For the others on the thread, do y'all have VT-d enabled in the BIOS? And is it just Asus or is it the x79 chipset that has the issue, I wonder?
