The 3-button controller can do basic lighting effects and solid colors. If you don't need/want iCUE control, it's perfectly fine as a standalone lighting controller.

It depends on how big your projects are. Generally 16GB could be enough for most users. Does your current system use up close to 16GB? If so, I'd consider the upgrade to 32GB.
