How do you know that it works ? The fact that the drive accepts the TRIM command doesn't mean that it also works. 5.0.1 and 5.0.2 had a bug that caused TRIM not to work as it should. 5.0.3 fixed that...

Other manufacturers released FW based on the SF 502 FW a few weeks ago, so I guess that Corsair will do that soon enough as well. Perhaps that new FW will help with your issues.

I'm using a Force 3 240GB in a Toshiba Satellite Pro A200 ( also from around 2008 ) without any problems. It works at SATA 2 speeds, albeit a bit slower than a desktop would.
