JEDEC speeds are supposed to work out of the box. Unfortunately XMP doesn't always work out of the box and the solution is typically to manually enter voltage, frequency, and timings.

Just FYI there is no guarantee that 2 ram kits even with the same model and version will work together without issues. The best scenario is getting a 4 stick kit to ensure they were tested together....
