DarkTwister
Hello, I'm using the Void Pro Wireless and I always update the iCUE software but never the Firmware. I wanted to know what does the Firmware do and if its important to update it? Right now my Firmware is v.0.15.
c-attack
"Firmware" is the small software packet saved to some sort of internal memory on the device in question. Typically, it governs the device behavior when there is no software present giving directions, core behaviors like when to power on/off, or other very basic instructions for how it should respond. This is the most central elements only. Since the core behavior of a product is not changed very often, there usually are not very many firmware updates. You don't usually add features to the firmware in the same way you would to a software update. Most firmware updates for Corsair products relate to compatibility with new chipsets or changes to base behavior. For the headset, there is not likely to be one unless they need to make it compatible with something Microsoft has done with native sound or to change something along those lines. Drivers and base sound behavior is handled through the software.
